No one ever said thieves were the sharpest knife in the draw. These guys stole $8,000 in merchandise from a Sam's club then took off in a Tesla. One thing they forgot was to check to see how much charge it had left. So they had to stop and charge it and got caught. lol

Hey look, another positive EV thread. ?

Being a thief is dumb. But you have to be a special kind of dumb to attempt a robbery in an electric car that doesn’t have enough juice. But apparently thieves that dumb exist; Business Insider reports that thieves attempting to get away in a Tesla were caught by police after they stopped to charge the car.

The robbery took place in Buford, Georiga on February 19th. Allegedly, the two suspects stole $8,000 in everything from video game systems to electric toothbrushes from a Sam’s Club. The two then fled the store with authorities receiving calls from witnesses that they were in a Tesla.

The duo must have realized they weren’t going to get very far not long after leaving the store. Authorities say the thieves were caught just 10 miles from the Sam’s Club after they stopped to charge it. It’s not known if the Tesla was owned by the thieves. But considering that they just robbed a Sam’s Club in broad daylight, I’d wager it wasn’t.

What was that you were saying about Toyota not embracing EVs ? If you want to make a positive EV post you might have been on this news but in case you've missed I'll post it for you. . Toyota's new CEO could hardly wait to make this his 1st priority. Pity he hasn't spent time here getting properly informed about the all the overwhelming negative aspects of EVs. Here it is in Bold letters and a link should you care to read more.

Saw this online and laughed my ass off! Now just think if Ford can introduce their repo program for non payers they can also stop a couple of thugs in a getaway Ford from getting very far. Just like the Tesla! ?

Corporates follow the money. That means taking direction from governments.

In more progressive cities it will be a matter of whose EV has the most range , police or thieves but if Dunkin Donuts installs charge stations then law enforcement will prevail.

"Tesla Model 3 has been selected as new police vehicle by Dallas County"

LA, NYPD, Denver among a growing no if cities using Teslas. Wouldn't surprise me if the US Army will be evaluating a M1-Arbrams electrified tank.

A perfect fit. Half their fleet will be in private police charging stations 24/7. With unlimited funds a body can make the most inefficient plan work. Just don't stray too far from the charging stations, and have your own independent emergency generation station in case the power drops.

After that Ambulances will go electric. Just hope it can make it to the ER after multiple defibrillation attempts to keep the patient alive!

It will raise productivity as the men in blue will be spare taking the miscreants back the the station, instead they can just tap into the battery pack electricity and administer justice ala Judge Dredd style :

Judge Dredd: [Dredd rips out a sparking electrical cable from Mean Machine's mechanical arm] Mega City municipal code 4722: Illegal use of city electricity. How do you plead?

Mean Machine: GRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Judge Dredd: I KNEW YOU'D SAY THAT!

[Jams the cable into Mean Machine's spine, executing him]

Judge Dredd: Thank you, Hershey. And code 3613... the first degree murder of a Street Judge...

Block Warlord: Let me guess, life.

[he goes for his gun, but Dredd shoots him first]

Judge Dredd: Death. Court's adjourned.

FYI - Lexus recently introduced a RX EV and it hasn't exactly wowed reviewers, range falls short of most rivals, below is link to a youtube video, the 1st few minutes relate Yodas comments when they tore down a Tesla model Y , making a good EV can be more involved than taking an existing ICE design and inserting a batt pack and electric motor . Just keeping the board updated, TIA. Toyota has fallen behind with respect to EVs and despite the new CEOs pledges won't be an easy task to make a top rated product, I know people dislike Tesla for various reasons but it's a company based in the USA.
