You run with the city EMS? I couldn’t imagine
I thought my depts 10-12,000 squad calls a year was bad.

NYC is a whole different scale. There are around 5000 ems runs a day. In my little corner of Brooklyn, I have 8 Lieutenants, 25 Medics and 43 EMTs. I'm understaffed by around 10 or so. There are 11 FDNY EMS stations in Brooklyn plus a boatload of hospital run ambulances. It's crazy.

Its interesting, nobody wants to work fire and or EMS anymore.
Police is understandable, the public and certain parties caused that. Cleveland Ohio, had a few hundred apply, 11 were sworn in. A councilman is up in arms because no one wants to be the police.
Crime is out of control, and this guy is too dumb to realized he and his people caused it.
I still run squad every few months at a small rural county service. 8 hour shift, hang out, wash my truck, and make gas money.
Just enough to remember why I retired
Id quit nursing tomorrow if I could find something that paid near as well. I hate people, and I’m too young to draw a full pension yet

We don't have a problem attracting people to fire suppression. Finding real EMTs is a whole other issue.

It's a list thing. If that's your route, you get called by your place on the list. There are decreasing numbers of people coming to make careers in street medicine. I have 20+ years in. In 4 & change, I'm out and off on an extended adventure in my Ranger.

Yeah WV had 20 and out - I was out at 20 and 1 day.
Ohio is around 25 years, I have roughly 20 there as well though EMS and a small county hospital that paid into state retirement.
