Brake boosting opinions

Brake boosting, holding the brake/rpms to about 1500-2500 while gassing then letting go of brake to zoom zoom out. It sounds rough on the transmission/drive train, wanted to get opinions on those who have done it or haven’t.

How hard do you have to hold the brake? Real heavy?

Just hold the brake until the rear tires start spinning .....

I thought I read somewhere on here that the factory programming won't let you brake boost?

I've never tried it, but there are times when those fractions of a second waiting for boost to build seem a lot longer.

It will break the tires loose..just to a point, get a tune and it will melt the rear tires ...if you’re skeptical ...put some water down ..

In the Midwest this is called powerbraking.

Brake boosting is done from a roll, not a stop.

People have been sending Automatics this way for DECADES. Hell, I powerbrake my milk truck with the shitastic Allison transmission at least once a night when lined up next to another driver.

Go for it. Hit up an empty parking lot and play around.

I’ve done it on occasion, not every light or anything. The truck can handle it, not like it is being neutral dropped or something.

I have no idea what I am talking about half the time honestly, but that's why I am here on these knowledgeable forums thank you for explaining things a bit to me though. I think I will give it a shot sometime. Is there any oversteer associated with power braking, or hold straight and g2g.

Just hold on and let her eat. It won't be near as dramatic as you're thinking at our power levels.

Here in Missouri we have always called it either power braking or more commonly brake torquing. I did it a few times in my 2WD STX and the tires barked a little before traction control kicked in. I have not tried it in my 4WD FX4 yet.

When I've done this the truck burns the tires through first, squeals them hitting second, and chirps them going into third. (LMS tune, sport mode, TC off) I'm running 265/70R-17 General Grabber A/TX tires. These trucks aren't indestructible, but they're not made of glass either.

I just need more convincing to tune mine.

My stock truck barely spins off the line with brake boost.
The few times I tried it seemed to not really get much boost built.
After it starts to pull, on some roads it will spin. Its decently quick for me.
It had excessive throttle tip, but its gotten better with time? No, I got used to boost.
Great truck overall, no serious complaints or problems.

Update to the thread after 5 months, I gathered the courage to put a little test into the power braking. 1500 rpms only, then stabbed it. 4.94 0-60. Giggled a ton. I think I best not do this often, I had a little too much fun.
