We are expecting mucho rain tomorrow, with highs in low to mid 40's. Opted to smoke my country ribs today vs. tomorrow. Not much ice still on the ground, hopefully tomorrow's rain will clean it up more.
I'm happy that we got the rain today. Yesterday afternoon driving up the gravel road to the house at 20 ish mph, then stopped bout even with the old oak tree to back up in front of the house and the truck was covered temporarily by a cloud of dust. The rain will put a stop to that for a little while.

This! I use to love watching the soccer moms with their fancy new SUV's speeding down the road in the first bad snowstorm. Then, a couple miles down the road they were usually off in the woods or upside down in a ditch because they thought having AWD was a pass to be driving like an idiot on bad weather.
STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES!!!!
For years, I use to stop and help people out of ditches until I finally figured out that if they knew how to drive, they wouldn’t be in the ditch in the first place.

I drove to Suffolk Airport this morning to meet some friends for breakfast. They belong to the Pilots n Paws group that fly dogs all over the country and they flew my Princess Candy to me from Kentucky. Anyway, I needed to go to Williamsburg from Suffolk so against my better judgment, I decided to go route 58 to 664 through the MMBT to interstate 64. I’ve been travelling interstate 64 since 1974 when I was stationed at NOB. I thought it was bad back then but you take your life in your own hands on that road anymore. I was doing 70 in a 60 in the right hand lane and idiots were whipping past me like I was going backwards. I never seen anything like it and I don’t get it. At least one car I saw tailgating another at probably 80 MPH so close you could not have walked between then without getting dirt on your pants from both bumpers. Luckily, I made it to the burg without getting smashed. It will be a long time before I go on that road again……

In my best Homer Simpson voice, “mmmm, country ribs”. (Drooling)

I'll trade you some ribs for part of the brisket I smoked today? I let this one smoke low and slow for 18 hours and could barely pick it up it was so tender. I also added some apple pellets my normal blend (hickory, oak, cherry & maple) and it added just enough flavor.

Supposed to be warm for a couple days. Maybe the snow will melt so I can find my grill. Grilling up here usually starts Easter 😪.

🤔Yeah, that's like one stint in the 24 Hours of Daytona or Le Mans.
Dealers choice lol.😁
Well, when we moved to up here from Orange County, CA my parents had to make a quick trip to sign papers on the house. We had a '69 Ford LTD with a 390. If I remember right they made each one way trip in 18 hours or something like that. They took turns driving while us kids stayed with our grandparents. I remember the story of my mom doing 110 and bouncing a jack rabbit under the car until it spit out the back!😂

That looks GOOOOOOD! I don't know if I'll have ever have the patience to do that long of a smoke. Maybe when I'm retired! Coutnry ribs came out darn good, took about 4 1/2 hours.
