Hey folks,

My truck was side-swiped on my way home from work yesterday morning and the passenger tail light was damaged along with the quarter panel - everything else was, thankfully, unscathed. In fact, the tail light works and has no damage with the exception of the red lens popped off on the highway and is gone.

Ergo, my question: Who here has tried, or thinks that I could purchase the non-BLIS tail light and put my BLIS module into it, saving me the approximately $400 difference (which is the cost of the stand-alone module). I've pulled the diagram for the tail lights and see that the BLIS module can be purchased separately which leads me to believe it might be possible, but I can't be sure the non-BLIS tail lights have that cavity open for a module.

I'm open to practical suggestions on saving money.

@LevittownFordParts.com, would y'all have some insight into this dilemma?

Thanks

The question is: Are all BLIS taillights also LED and are all LED taillights BLIS?

I suspect the cost difference between BLIS and non taillights is the LED vs incandescent issue.

Hope I'm incorrect.

You're incorrect, as far as I can tell on the pricing and parts diagram. They're both LED and the difference is the BLIS module which independently runs > $400.

Justin, the fly in the ointment is the tail light lens design is different even if it would work.

You’re right - dammit! Good catch, my man; thank you.

Anyone have a lead on a less expensive right BLIS tail light?

I recommend you hit the bay. You know what the BLISS taillight looks like. Start a dialog with the seller and maybe let him/her pull the bliss module and just sell you the shell?

Local salvage yards, and Ebay would be good to check. Also, check with your insurance company. I know they are different as to how they work across the states, but here in North Carolina that would be covered under my comprehensive section with a $100 deductible with no increase in my rates. You never know, you may get some help.
