Big fun in the big state of texas

Went to big bend again, Balmorhea and Monahans sand hills state parks as well. Did every mile of the dirt roads in big bend. Only saw four other vehicles out in the backcountry. We hit the perfect weather window, flowers were the best I’ve ever seen in the desert. Temps were low 80s-high40s. One day driving over 3.5 hours on dirt I only saw three other vehicles. The solitude is one of my main draws to this place. The gage hotel in marathon is a must stop if you’re in the area.

The summer can be miserably deadly. Spring or fall is best for sure. I’ve seen 90 in February and near freezing in April. Be prepared for a range of temps and you will love it.
