BedRug discount for forum members?

I bought the Ford Sportliner through one of the discount Ford parts dealers for a lot less than MSRP. The Sportliner is literally a Bedrug with the Ford logo sewed in where the Bedrug logo would be, made by Bedrug and everything.

Only used them a couple of times, but Nate at Fairway Ford in Canfield OH is worth checking out. Between their discount and using all of my points from the truck purchase, it was $183 out the door. I love mine and it gets pretty filthy from dump runs, mulched up leaves, and saltwater and mud from kayaking.

I just blow it out with a leaf blower and then pressure washer (complete with using the soap cannon and then rinsing like mad - comes out looking new and stays soft on the knees).

Curious how the bed is holding up underneath with all the water/debris that might get trapped. Does it all wash out from under the BedRug? Do you have a spray in liner, or just the factory paint? If I do the BedRug, I'm not going to do the liner.

I don’t haul loose rocks or things like so it’s perfect for my application and it’s WONDERFUL on the knees.

as they state, it’s not really rug material but looks a lot like an I/O carpet.

I don't have a spray-in and installed the BedRug right over the painted floor and sides (I did wipe down the entire bed with rubbing alcohol).

That's a good questions as to how it's holding up.

I haven't looked mainly because of mounting the six tie downs over the BedRug and also because I'd be scared to pull up the double-backed Velcro. The Velcro isn't holding at the front of the bed, despite wiping it down with rubbing alcohol. I think I tried to mount it too high up and the part attached to the front wall of the bed is on an angled part. It probably should be on the vertical surface, so I used giant magnets to keep it from sagging.

That's 100% user error on my part.

For the tail gate part of it, I used the extra double-backed Velcro to really plaster the BedRug to those rear inside pillars and the bottom of the tail gate. It ain't moving, even dragging stuff over it. So I hesitate to try to look under it.

The "foam" on the underside of the BedRug is pretty dense and I don't know if that's open-cell or closed-cell. Open would let it dry out and closed wouldn't.

Either way, I would think that, after a long time, sand and fine soil, like clay, would build up under it and eventually rub down the paint.

Considering the abuse past pickups had in my life with totally scrapped off paint and big dents, I figure that the abuse this bed gets will be minimal in my case. I also imagine I'll keep this Ranger until it just doesn't run anymore (like my 1972 FJ40 that I've driven since 1976 and just gave to my daughter to restore).

So the unseen abuse that my bed gets isn't any concern until I step through a hole in it! =D

My perspective is that it'll never get "that" abused BUT I also don't have any concern for maintaining it for resale value.

However, I am enjoying a shiny exterior of the truck, with the way Graphene treats it. That's new to me too as a former person that rarely ever washed a car.

If I was concerned about the bed holding up, I suppose I could see spraying a good layer of clear coat on it. But considering that a spray-in bed liner requires the deep scuffing of the paint, I figure my bed will hold up just fine.

If I ever needed to sell it and, for some reason took out the BedRug, I suppose I could do a spray-in to cover up any damage.

Woof, sorry for the long-winded rant. I love the BedRug and, for me, it provides just the right amount of protection and comfort, for my needs. I also like how my plastic grocery bags and cases of water don't slid around much.

LOL, when I first moved to Texas from Quebec and wore Speedos, it was quite the site when in that FJ40 with the doors off and the 3-inch racing seat belts. They covered up the sides and I looked nude. Fortunately, my physique, back then, isn't the same stunning one I have now, so I don't think I created too many nightmares! =D

I've thought of a rubber bed mat over the BedRug if I was dropping engine blocks into the bed, but that would hold water under it. I find that the BedRug can smell musty if I leave it wet (mainly from kayak swamp water). So I make sure to open the tonneau regularly.

As far as a snug fit, I agree, I can push in on the sides and front, it doesn't suck up against the bed, which would be nice.

BUT ... the sculpted nature of the BedRug makes it look like it's a tight fit.

That sagginess doesn't impact actual use, it's not like I lean against it, sink in a few inches, and fall over. But, like you, that lack of being super tight is a concern but, in reality, never is an issue.

I've had a few people see it and comment on how nice it looks, and it is sharp looking in my opinion.

And it really does clean up very nicely. I've had dirt heaped into the bed and then ground into it and it comes out great with the pressure washer.

LOL, when I use the soap cannon, it does take forever to rinse it so that the water runs perfectly clear (not saying I'm OCD or anything!). =)

It also vacuums with a shop vac very nicely.
