Bed bracing for the 5G?

Morning all. I've searched this forum for the past 20 minutes and didn't see this topic anywhere. So when one of you replies immediately and posts a link to a previous thread.... well all I can say is "sorry."

I sometimes look around the 6G forum. And in that world the subject of J Braces for the bed has become a major topic. Even become a topic at Ford evidently. I have plans to put a topper on my Ranger. Not doing it tomorrow or anything. Won't mention the brand as I don't want this thread going down that rabbit hole. But, are J Braces a concern for the 5G's? Or is the 6G bed different enough that it has all these structural problems while the 5G does not?

From my understanding, not only are they NOT a concern, but they are also not available for the 5G.
Many people have put toppers and racks on the 5G, but I haven't seen or heard of bed failures.
The reason they are needed on a 6G is because Ford cheapped out on the bed design. Once people started seeing cracks and failures in the bed, Ford came up with this band-aid. I don't know if Ford plans to redesign the beds or will include braces on all new trucks. As of now, J-braces are near impossible to find.

I have a Leer 100XR canopy on my truck, so certainly not the lightest option. I am not aware of any issues with the standard 5th gen ranger needing additional bracing. All the issues seem to be with the raptor models. And from what I understand the regular 6g also has some issues according to the shop i got my canopy from.

Yes, in that post OP says Ranger Raptor, which is new gen. ROW got the Raptor and 6G Ranger before we did in US.
