Not sure I like the auto dim feature of the headlights. They don't always seem to work properly. When it starts getting dark, about the time the deer start hitting the roads it must not be dark enough for the high beams to come on. Sometimes when it is plenty dark enough, and the weather is good, they don't come on. Also, approaching a vehicle that is at an intersection and perpendicular to me doesn't cause them to go dim. I find myself overriding them quite a bit. Yes, I have read the manual.

The system turns on high beams if it is dark enough and no other traffic is present. If it detects an approaching vehicle’s headlamps or tail lamps, or street lighting ahead, the system turns off high beams before they can distract other road users. Low beams remain on.
Note: The system may not operate properly if the sensor is blocked. Keep the windshield free from obstruction or damage.
Note: The system may not operate properly in cold or inclement conditions. You can switch on the high beams by overriding the system.
Note: If the system detects a blockage, for example bird droppings, bug splatter, snow or ice, the system goes into low beam mode until you clear the blockage. A message may appear in the information display if the camera is blocked.
Note: Using much larger tires or equipping vehicle accessories such as snowplows can modify your vehicle's ride height and degrade automatic high beam control performance.
A camera sensor, centrally mounted behind the windshield of your vehicle, continuously monitors conditions to turn the high beams on and off.
Once the system is active, the high beams turn on if:
  • The ambient light level is low enough.
  • There is no traffic in front of your vehicle.
  • The vehicle speed is greater than approximately 32 mph (51 km/h).
The system turns the high beams off if:
  • The ambient light level is high enough that high beams are not required.
  • The system detects an approaching vehicle's headlamps or tail lamps.
  • The vehicle speed falls below approximately 27 mph (44 km/h).
  • The system detects severe rain, snow or fog.
  • The camera is blocked.

Where is the sensor for the auto o and the auto high-beam? I am guessing one sensor for both.

I had to disable mine before I had a seizure from its constant flipping between high and low beam.

If I understand correctly, the auto high beam sensor is the front camera. Not sure what you mean by auto o.

Yeah, if there is any significant traffic it can get annoying.

There is sensor on the top of dash that I believe turns my headlights on at dusk or under low light conditions.

I love this feature...use it all the time and 99% accurate...sometimes it'll come on right at the moment another car enters the view and it goes on/off very quickly...so far no one's thought I was flashing them and flashed back.... ?

I like it and am surprised how well it works. If traffic is too heavy I don't put the lights on auto.
I've never seen the high beam come on when in heavy traffic...it's pretty conservative...sometimes it doesn't come on soon enough after other vehicles are gone...

I'm the kinda of person doesn't like my vehicle telling me what to do. If I wanted to turn my headlights on when I start my vehicle; I will do it myself. Same with auto high beams. More times something gets used the more of a chance it will break/stop working premature. Some features are just annoying like that. Especially if they don't work like you want them too.

Let me clarify, when I'm out on a Hwy and traffic is spread out just enough to trigger them as they go off I just turn them off. Yes, sometimes there is a period when they don't turn on quickly.

Yes, that sensor detects the amount of ambient light. But I am pretty sure it's the camera that detects headlights/tail lights to turn the high beams on/off.
