Has anyone bought and used the Aussie sub box? How do you like it? How's the quality? What sub did you put in it? It seems that it's volume is only about .36ft3. Is that correct? Looking on Crutchfield and I only see one 10" sub that recommends a box that small and it's actually .35ft3. It's the Focal Sub 10 slim. Anyone heard of it? Any other recommendations?
Focal Sub 10 slim

Did a little more looking around and found a couple more that would fit in that volume. I assumed that the shallow depth speakers wouldn't need as much space. Need to find out what mounting depth the box has.

Ah yes.... The boom boom rattle box...... Unless you have a way to have the sub tuned there is no real point in adding it...... To many times have I seen subs added and over power the rest of the stereo and do nothing but rattle the vehicle.

So nothing useful to add to topic? I do plan to change out the rest of speakers and amp as well.

So I have the Aussie box in my Tremor. I put a 10" sub. The pass side where the plastic tray for storage pops right out/ or it will fit with it in there. I posted a pic of my audio build. If you can't find it, hit me up, I get in here everyday. I will post you another one.

What sub is that? Is it designed for the small volume of the box? My two worries are finding a good sub that will work in a .37ft3 box and that the box will be super flexy. I did a little more looking and found a couple of subs that work with the small volume. Just waiting to hear back what the mounting depth is. Do you happen to know what it is? Your set up looks nice!

Take the box and wrap it with those heavy sound deadening strips. That will add more rigidity to the box.

Definitely going to do that! Going to do the doors tonight. I have about 1.5 boxes left over from a previous project and I'm hoping it's enough to get them done. At least the outer shell. Sounds super tinny when I shut my doors.

That is on my project list too.

You can go with the 10" box but the AussieBox guy also sells these in an 8" version.

I went with the 8" version because you can get a much beefier sub and you are not stuck getting a shallow mounting depth sub. Many standard depth 8" subs fit in this box.

I went with the Alpine Type-R R2-W82. 350W RMS, 12mm of XMAX works in tiny sealed enclosures (rated for .15-.45 CuFT according to Alpine). It was estimated by the AussieBox vendor that the box volume was somwhere around .4 CuFT.

I am a big fan of the Image Dynamics IDQv4. This could also work in this box with an extension ring as the 5" of dept can hit the slope part of the box. The RMS output though is a bit weak (125W RMS) vs the 12" version (750W RMS).

Other models that could work:
  • CDT QES-820
  • Morel Primo 8
  • Infinity Kappa 800w (these are cheap, around $100 on Amazon)
