Make your life 100% easier and remove the axle nut and knock the axle loose/though the hub. This is MUCH easier than pushing down on the control arm and risk having the shaft come out.

Absolutely agree 100%. Saves a bunch of time, but more importantly prevents possible axle damage & reduces headaches.
