I've been trying to figure out what is making these sounds from the back of my ranger. There are the chunks but also a lot of squeaking. I've checked the spare tire foam insulator pad, replaced one of them, tightened the spare tire, zip tied the hanging chain. It's still making this sound with and without the DeeZee tailgate dampener on.

I have to actually really push on the exhaust to make it move. Is it just the tail gate making this sound?

Do you feel the (Thump) knocking sound?

If you try - Placing in drive and holding brake and give it gas and let off, do you hear a similar thump.
I think it may be a transmission support mount or engine mount due to that thump.
If no noted noise with that test.

Then its shock and or leaf spring related (possible broken leaf spring)

Jack the rear end of the truck up will possibly show a broken leaf spring, this would be the thump.

Another possible is control arm bushings worn, how does it drive alignment wise?

After checking the leaf springs I didn't see any signs of damage. And performed the test you described a couple of times with no issue. After having my buddy ride along with me he's starting to think it may be a center support bearing. So I'll check that this next weekend.
