Another Ford Pass points question (sorry)

Had the Ranger in to get the taillight recall checked out. While there, I went into the parts department and was going to order the pivot storage box with my 42,000 points. Parts/accessories guy says the points can only be used for service, no accessories. When I mentioned there are people all over the country using points to do what I want to do he just said they are doing it wrong and that they just went to class and told service only.

So, what do I do? I won't be using the points for service and hate to see the wasted.

Find another dealer if you can? Or call Ford directly. He's partly correct. Any points you need to use must be on an RO (repair order) for Ford to track, but they can be used for accessories, that's actually one of the things they advertise them for.

He's uninformed or mistaken on how they can be used.

Any chance you can point me to that ad saying points can be used for accessories? I'll look myself as well.

The guy at the dealership I go to said it can be used for accessories, although I have a lease so buying accessories is not really worth it to me. I would shoot them an email with the screenshot unless there is another dealer close by that you could go with. From my experience they will NOT fight anything found on the ford site if you cite it with a link.

Have the parts guy at whatever dealership you are dealing with search on FMCDealer, the FORDPASS Earning and redemption guide. It will walk him through the whole process. Also there is a way now to get them on a counter ticket instead of just an RO.

Parts generates a ticket with the price of the part then gives the ticket to service who then does an RO and submits it to Ford pass rewards for redemption then Ford pass deducts the amount from your 42000 points. I have purchased two items and they have deducted 22300 and added another 575, and 545 back on for a earnings reward. That has been my experience at my dealership since December up to todays date.
The employees are still learning the process at each dealers place of business as Ford is still training.
It will work out I am sure the points are yours to use as you wish for oil changes, or parts ect...

Hey Mark, I agree with whomever said it may not be worth it for you to educate the Ford guy who said you cannot use your Ford Pass points on accessories. Unless that’s the only Ford dealer near you, I would contact the other dealers and speak with their parts dept on using your points.

If you want t use that dealer, would it be possible to speak with your salesperson to see if they might act as your advocate and help educate their peers.

I dunno if that’s really feasible, but might be a better approach then running into the parts guy waving a paragraph under his nose.. lol

Please bear in mind that these people are not Ford. They are dealer people and many are misguided.

That is so true Phil and at my dealer they are still learning and only certain people know anything about redeeming the points and in the 7 or 8 months Ford has had the program out I recall Rich saying only four people have used them so the program is still new and ect...
I myself have had to call a guide twice to get thing going and keep Ford pass working properly, the guides are very polite and will direct a owner through the process step by step and I suppose the guide will also help the dealership personnel that call for help as well, as a matter of fact that is what Kayla told me last week while being helped by Her. I think it must take a special person to do what these folks do as Ford employees.
This is only the 2nd new Ford I have owned the 1st was an escort back in 84, and now this beautiful Ford Ranger.

I ended up calling my salesman who did some checking for me. Called me back and said the points can be used for accessories. Gave the name of the person in parts to call and get it done. I wrote the names down and then left the Post IT somewhere I can't find. Anyway, will be ordering the pivot box tomorrow.

Any pro's/con's or going with the driver side verses the passenger side? I know the drive side has the 12V outlet (that I don't use but you never know)

Yes they do.

Thanks for all the help. Price was $190 and I had a 15% off Costco coupon so around $160. Used my points and have some to spare for an oil change maybe.
