My ambient temperature sensor is lying to me. It is about 94 degrees right now and it is stuck reading 75 degrees. I just went through an automatic car wash and noticed on the way home. Is there any way to reset it?

Mine does that too when going through the car wash. It'll square itself away soon enough. Mine does.

If it does not reset on its own, there is a Scan Tool (Reset) for it, IDK for sure if Forscan has it but I believe it does - It will be a quick link tab to it.

Thanks, it did reset but I may drag my laptop out and see if Forscan has it.
EDIT: I just found this on an F-150 forum. I may give it a try next time.

Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) Sensor

The Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor is an input to the PCM. If the outside air temperature is below approximately 0°C (32°F), the PCM does not allow the A/C compressor clutch to engage.

The PCM sends raw ambient air temperature data to the FCIM. The FCIM filters the raw data, sends it to the APIM and the touchscreen displays the outside temperature.

After replacing an Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor, the sensor data must be reset by either driving the vehicle at speeds consistently about 20 MPH for at least 5 minutes to update the filtered data or perform the multiple button press reset procedure to update to the current raw value.
The multiple button reset for the Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor is as follows:

  • On the HVAC panel controls, press the A/C and Recirc buttons simultaneously, then, release both.
  • Within 2 seconds press the A/C button again

Typically in front of the radiator behind the grill or bumper. Ford has been putting them there for 30 years. No idea for our truck. Haven’t torn that deep into this one just yet.

Location - Below Driver's side headlamp assembly, not sure about the multi button reset - none of the Ranger manuals call for that, they only state the Scan Tool method.
