Air Conditioner issue

About 3 weeks ago i made it about 2 miles away from the house and all of a sudden I hear a horrible grinding noise and then a real bad odor. The air conditioner was not working just blowing warm air. I took it to the deslership and they said the compressor failed and sent pieces of metal down some lines so the entire system needs to be repalced. I have no ETA on when the parts will be available.
