Is it a warning light or the passenger on/off air bag light below the radio? If a warning light in the dash, use a code reader such as Forscan to get the DTC codes.

It's the warning light not passenger on/ off. Thnx. I had thought about checking for code. Just hadn't had time to do it yet. Thank you sir.

Hey Michael, My “airbag“ warning light used to come on once in while in my 4g Ranger. It ended up being an issue with a seat belt buckle and was easily resolved with electronic contact cleaner.

I hope your issue is just as simple to fix.

I posted a PID Data Ref here, just in case there are no codes, Pull up the data in the RCM and use the provided info as a guide.

Not getting any codes. Damn thing just comes on whenever. I have checked all the seatbelt connections. They seem to be ok. But am going to get some cleaner and try that . Would you happen to know where the AirBag sensors are on the front end?

What device are you using for a code reader? There should be a stored code if the airbag light is coming on. Cheaper readers won't read it. Forscan and an OBDII adaptor should read any codes for the airbag system.

With another member here experiencing the same issue, and no codes Using (Forscan)
Tells me that this needs a High-End Scan Tool to read it and or use the Live Data Monitor and look at the (Resistance Values) - something is teetering on the edge of specs.
This is something for safety reasons - it would be advised to get it on a better scan tool.
I have a hunch it's in the seat belt side of the system - bad connection
The list is too long to blindly T-Shoot this as for suspect circuit.
This is why I posted the PID Data Ref - To Assist in (Isolating) the circuit - without a code it's a needle in a haystack.

Not sure why. But, I buckled all 5 seat belts and, so far, the light has not come back on.🤔🤔. Been 3 days so far. I presume that there is an issue within one or more of the seat belt buckles. Just wanted to give an update. Thnx for all the help and other info. It has been great to get info from such technical experts that are in this group. Im Sure I will have more dumb questions before my 20 XLT and I separate. 🤣

Hmm - Process of elimination - Unbuckle (1) at a time, drive for a week or so for each one. and when the problem comes back - it may be the faulting belt.
