When I saw that line I checked to see if it was a satire site.Interesting "fixes" automakers come up with these days, install a tube to drain off the leaking fuel, won't be surprised if the EPA intervenes and requires the leaking fuel to be returned to the gas tank.
vehicle fire reports get quick attention from the NHTSA .
Quality job #1 guys.
I'd be shocked if they did anything for this when vehicles have had coolant reservoir overflow just dumping on the ground this whole time. At least gasoline evaporates quickly into a relatively harmless gas.Interesting "fixes" automakers come up with these days, install a tube to drain off the leaking fuel, won't be surprised if the EPA intervenes and requires the leaking fuel to be returned to the gas tank.

I wish they'd spray that leaking fuel in a way that discourages rodents from taking up shop in the truck - win-win! =p521000+ vehicles affected by the two recalls for this issue. 4 known engine fires caused by cracked injectors. 14 warranty claims for cracked injectors. The 1.5L engine design doesn’t handle directing fuel from an external injector leak properly. Hence the drain tube fix. PCM reprogramming addresses fuel pressure loss minimizing potential for fuel related fires. And by the way the same style /manufacturer of injector is in our 2.3L Rangers ( not the exact same part number) . Apparently the 2.3L handles the external fuel leakage potential differently than the 1.5L. There are several reports of cracked 2.3L injectors on the Bronco forum but no fire reports. Ford also extended the warranty for injector failures to 15 years/150000 miles.
We own a 22 Escape PHEV with the 2.5L so I decided to look into this just in case.
