2022 Ford Ranger XLT Tail Light/Brake Light Issues

My Ranger has been acting up for awhile now. The hill start assist feature randomly disables, cruise control disables, and brake lights/taillights stay on or flash without brake pedal being pressed.

I think it may be a faulty brake light switch. Has anyone had this issue with their 2022+ Ford Ranger and know what brake light switch to get?

No, before I can get to a shop to get scanned it stops. I need to get an OBD2 scanner I guess

After briefly looking at mine, they have the same colors. I haven’t had the chance to pull it off and look at the part# yet

The codes will probably be stored in memory, so they could still be read with a code reader. Forscan works well for this.

Personally, I’d check for any fault codes before you start throwing parts at it. That will at least point you in the right direction instead of just making an assumption and spending money/effort replacing something that might not even be the issue. A scanner will save you time and trouble in the future. Worth the investment.

its going to most likely be the switch, you could pull it out and actuate it - and see if you can duplicate the issue and feel for any (friction) where it sticks - if it checks good then plus a scan tool will help (live data) and monitor the pedal inputs - the switch only sends a signal that the switch is (open / closed) the actual lights are via the BCM seeing the switched closed
