That looks for all the world like a cooler block that mounts to the side of the engine and then the filter mounts to it. The oil will be fed in from the backside of it, so those larger tubes carry the coolant.
Wouldn't be surprised if the seals on the oil side leak, not terribly uncommon.
The kid loves her Escape!!it's located directly behind the oil filter...the filter screws o to it.My wife drives a '17 Escape. Tried to talk her out of it, but she had to have it. Within six months she could't stand it.
