I had the opportunity to drive my truck in stop and go today. The shudder seems to be the same as before I brought it in for the third time, not better. I think I wanted it to feel better. For shits and giggles I went out and did the measurements from the TSB and I got 0.3° pinion angle. I...
I have not paid a dime for any of the troubleshooting and work performed on my truck. I bought mine on 9/5/20 and it is all covered under warranty. My truck is 100% stock so nothing to deal with as far as modifications.
I believe there is a separate TSB for the transmission shifting issues...
I really like this truck and if it didn't have that shudder it would be great. I had a 94 Ranger 2wd 3.0V6 manual supercab and it had a shudder. The service manager for the dealership I bought it at lived near me, gave me his truck for a day and took mine in, when I got it back there was no...
Got my truck back today after third visit to dealership for shudder issue. TSB 20-2277 was rechecked, shudder is not gone but much better. Had them check out some other things as well. Front alignment was off a bit, they took care of that and now it steers nice and tight. Apparently Ford is...
Ultimately what needs to be done is the pinion angle, as measured at the yoke at 90°, needs to match the transmission output angle as measured at the yoke at 90°. Ford's measurement in 20-2277 assumes everything is put together perfectly and stock ride height. Not sure why they make it hard on...
I called the dealership this morning to tell them what is going on with my truck and schedule to bring it in. Relayed my dissatisfaction with the worsening shuddering problem. I got a call back from the service manager and asked me to go over the problems, he committed to making things right...
My truck is 100% stock. Build date is 3/20/20.
If you don't have the shudder I doubt you will get it spontaneously. It is a noticable shake from the back end on take off. It usually occurs around 10mph and is associated with driveline misalignment.
Lost confidence in the shop I bought my truck from. The drive in and out of work today was worse than before the TSB was done on Thursday, shudder occurs from 10 to 30 mph. Took a look at the shim installation. Doesn't appear there is a tapered shim on the left and there are two tapered shims...
I served in the engineroom on a 1200psi steam plant destroyer in the 80's and we seemed to have indestructible bodies back then. I remember the treatment for a third degree burn was worse than the burn. I'll have to break out the welding gloves which serve as BBQ gloves currently.
Did you get...
I usually accelerate through the shudder area which is around 10mph. I started noticing the sustained shudder if I stay in the shudder range speed and have a some load on the truck. On my commute I drive in this zone allot. I was able to repeat this yesterday in a large empty parking lot. It...
I'm looking for suggestions on my next steps. A few friends have suggested getting a second look/opinion from another dealer. The current dealer, the one I bought it from, has been okay bit I did have to inform them about the TSB.
I really like my truck and would love to see this fixed as it...
Today I went a mission to see what is going on underneath my truck. Nothing loose, broken, or leaking that I can see or get a wrench on.
The takeoff shudder is still there, I can kind of live with it but the bigger problem is the constant shudder/surge at 10-17mph. If I drive steady at 10-17...
The drive home was in more stop and go. In a nutshell the problem is still there. My next step is to speak with the service manager and get a plan for what needs to be done. Too tired right now to elaborate on the details.
I did my normal drive to work this morning, had the TSB done yesterday as I described in an earlier post. Noticed the shudder a little leaving from the driveway and a few stops until I got to the highway, much more subtle than before. I did notice the whole truck seems to be pinned down allot...
Same here. I have allot of stop and go on my drive to/from work and plenty if time to notice it.
I went out and crawled under my truck and they definitely installed the tapered shims as the TSB describes. This shudder is definitely less than it was before the TSB work today. I may try...
