  1. TSB 20-2277 2019-2020 Ranger - Shudder/Vibration When Accelerating From A Stop

Do you have any vibration? I would hope at 5.4° you wouldn't.
  2. TSB 20-2277 2019-2020 Ranger - Shudder/Vibration When Accelerating From A Stop

I borrowed a digital angle gauge and followed the TSB. My result was 4.9°. That results in a 0.35° shim based on the calculation. Looks like the smallest shim in the kit is a 0.5° which would adjust the pinion angle to 5.4°. On another note I filled up with 93 octane rather than 87. I found...
  3. TSB 20-2277 2019-2020 Ranger - Shudder/Vibration When Accelerating From A Stop

This gives hope that if you have a stock truck and have the shudder the TSB, applied properly, should be the answer.
  4. TSB 20-2277 2019-2020 Ranger - Shudder/Vibration When Accelerating From A Stop

Just installed the Clinometer app on my phone. Very cool, my wife is looking at me like I'm nuts checking the dining room table level. I have to resist the urge to go out and check it now. It's a little dark out. Ranger Pride, thanks for the suggestion!
  5. TSB 20-2277 2019-2020 Ranger - Shudder/Vibration When Accelerating From A Stop

I hadn't thought of that. I will give it shot tomorrow morning.
  6. Does your Ranger have vibration at take off, what did you do?

Phil, I follow what you are saying and agree 100%. You have provided some great insight to this. We have already been conversing on the shudder TSB thread. I was hoping with this thread in the General topic to find out just how many people are having this issue. I think I may have confused...
  7. TSB 20-2277 2019-2020 Ranger - Shudder/Vibration When Accelerating From A Stop

I had some trouble getting the some of the angle measurements too. My analog gauge is bigger than the device shown in the TSB. I may borrow a digital angle gauge from a friend to get a more accurate measurement before Monday's visit to the dealer.
  8. Does your Ranger have vibration at take off, what did you do?

Thanks Phil. I was trying to figure out how to setup a poll but figured this post would hopefully get some info going. Hope for more feedback activity tonight.
  9. Does your Ranger have vibration at take off, what did you do?

I have had my Ranger a day short of two weeks. I have about 450 miles on it. I really like it except the driveline vibration at take off, and stop and go at low speeds. Is this common? What did you do to fix it? Did you just live with it? Did you have the TSB 20-2277 done on it? I have...
  10. TSB 20-2277 2019-2020 Ranger - Shudder/Vibration When Accelerating From A Stop

Has anyone gotten this TSB done that hasn't been given a line of crap? My truck is going in Monday for a minor cosmetic fix and to have them check the vibration that seems to meet the language of the TSB. I hope I have a better experience. I hope i don't regret leaving Audi after 14 years...
  11. Floor duct hitting toes

I've had my Ranger just under two weeks. The duct modification was the first thing I did after driving to work for the first time in it. Some narrow tin snips do a real nice job. I trimmed just short of an inch off and replaced the plastic expander screw thing with a real nut and bolt...
  12. TSB 20-2277 2019-2020 Ranger - Shudder/Vibration When Accelerating From A Stop

This really sucks that ChiefQM got that kind of response. I think we've all heard the lines; "they all do that", "we can't replicate the problem", "your VIN isn't covered under that TSB". To actually have them say the measurement is in spec and tell you this is one of the worst vibration cases...
  13. TSB 20-2277 2019-2020 Ranger - Shudder/Vibration When Accelerating From A Stop

I just did the angle checking based on the TSB on my truck. I only have an analog angle gauge but my measurement comes in at about 4°. Using their calculation i need a 1.25° shim. I would ask them to show you them taking the measurements. I like your idea of the markings. A paint pen works...
  14. TSB 20-2277 2019-2020 Ranger - Shudder/Vibration When Accelerating From A Stop

If you have an angle finder, compare the angle of both ends of the driveshaft flanges to see if they are equal or close. They are assuming the frame of the truck matches the angle of the flange at the far side of the centerbearing. That may not be true.
  15. TSB 20-2277 2019-2020 Ranger - Shudder/Vibration When Accelerating From A Stop

One way to find out is bring it in. Looks like the language of the TSB says to verify front and rear ride heights. From what I've read over the past couple of days is allot of stock and lifted vehicles have this issue and axle shimming is a very common practice.
  16. TSB 20-2277 2019-2020 Ranger - Shudder/Vibration When Accelerating From A Stop

The shims in the TSB are tapered shims which allow adjustment of the pinion shaft flange angle. If anything flat shims would just lift without angle change but the deflection of the driveshaft would increase. If you watch the video I linked the guy explains it pretty well. The Ranger has a...
  17. TSB 20-2277 2019-2020 Ranger - Shudder/Vibration When Accelerating From A Stop

This video helped me understand driveshaft alignment and the nature of the TSB and shimming the axle/pinion angle.
  18. TSB 20-2277 2019-2020 Ranger - Shudder/Vibration When Accelerating From A Stop

I have had my truck a week and it has the vibration taking off from a stop. I mentioned this to a friend who does allot of 4x4 builds, he immediately suggested center bearing shimming. I told him this is a brand new truck completely stock Ranger Lariat FX4. I'm hoping the TSB is the cure...
  19. Pet Peeves

I just got my Ranger five days ago. My only gripe right now was the tip of my shoe was hitting the AC duct above the brake pedal when i swung it over from the gas pedal. I tried to adapt to a different foot position but old habits are hard to change. I removed the plastic duct and trimmed...
  20. New Members Introduce Yourself!

Had been researching for a while and finally bought this Saturday. My last Ranger was a 94 supercab 2wd that I sold in 1999.
