Speaking of wheels and flares, it occurs to me that the newish 285 Duratrac tires I already have will be a little too wide for the OEM wheels. Looks like some new wheels will be in order. Darn.
Started removing pieces until rain threatened. My initial comment that the radiator support might look bad but be structurally ok was up in the night. It's toast. Reshaping the body pieces below the battery to level the battery tray and align a new radiator support is going to be a pig. I just...
Nine major salvage yards, 3 5G Rangers all with significant front end damage.
Not a big deal. Will just be sourcing the small stuff elsewhere, probably new. At least I know where they are if something farther back is ever needed.
Found a few other threads regarding liners and most owners were pro spray-on rather than drop-in for reasons that make sense. So I'll likely go back to my original plan to use Rhino LIning.
Reminds me of a crazy dude I saw on You Tube filling up the bed of his truck with gasoline at a filling station then driving off splashing it everywhere.
90% of my use for the bed on this Ranger will be hauling a motorcycle with a ramp and hitch stairs secured in the bed to the side of it. I...
TXRangerTim got me thinking about bed liners. Rather than Rhino Lining, either of these would likely be fine for me. One is a Rugged Liner and the other is from Ford Accessories.
Do you guys have experience with either? Both are around the same cost. Right now I can get the Ford version for...
Thank you. Wow. Stick/arc welding. That brought back memories from my youth.
Wish I knew someone with a frame shop who would give me that "friend" discount. Unfortunately I'll likely have to just shop around and suck it up as part of the project. But the truth is even if I spend $5k to repair...
Looked at a video of the "damper." I'd be too impatient waiting for the tailgate to lower. But let's get real, if a person is too weak to let it down slowly, how are they ever going to close it?
I had considered a lay-in mat but really like the full lining. The sides of the bed are scuffed and scratched and look kind of rough so figure it's worth it. Got to get it running right first though. Long way to go. Baby steps.
Is that what those things are? I looked at the one exposed on the other side and wondered why on earth it was there and so close to the tire. It looked like it would rub when turning.
Ha. Gotcha. Yeah no need for that.
Plans for the back-end are Rhino lining and possibly rail cargo anchors. Previous to this Ranger I had a 2002 manual Xterra that was a fantastic off-roader, but it had a range of about 250 miles without carrying extra fuel and the motorcycle hitch carrier was...
Thanks for that link. Yeah lots of reading and research to do.
Fortunately my wife is very used to deliveries and was involved in the decision to purchase so we're good there. She's excited to drive it when it's ready. I have some 285's for it so side steps will be in order. Neither of us is...
