I used a piece of 4x4x1/8 aluminum angle to make a shield to protect the connector area. I used one of the transfer case shield bolts and one of my rock slider mounting bolts to secure it. Should do the job ?
I never had to pay for the multiple TSB visits that I had before having the transmission replaced under warranty. Ask them if they confirm an issue using the TSB guidance if you will be refunded for the diagnostic fee
You have a 4x4 and the new updated transmission is really cheap compared to having it rebuilt. I think you were referring to a TSB and yes there are steps in the latest TSB to test for CDF drum failure. Depending on your extended warranty you may have to pay for it to be tested but it should be...
What year Explorer? The 24 has the port and direct injected 2.3L. From what Iāve heard our engine cover doesnāt fit those. Either way you could always auction it off here .

I have a plan and I am going to build a shield. I just started this thread to see if anyone has already tackled it. Iām not touching that connector. Iāve already subjected it to plenty of gunk and itās been fine. Truck also gets an annual Krown treatment. Just need to shield it from debris.
I have RCI skids on it now but the OEM ones held surprisingly after some robust abuse in rocks. Watch the video from Ford at the bottom of this marketing release.

It doesnāt. Itās back behind the transfer case skid plate. See picture, upper left area. The Ford transfer case skid plate is also in the same general area but also doesnāt cover it . What ever would have to be added could use the transfer case skid bolts to secure the front of it. And then go...
