This is a very good point. We all spend a lot of money on neat toys for our Rangers so, while it might be a little steep in price, it is better than the alternative.

Are you sure the audio fuse isn't on a delay? Does it power down after a few minutes? My F-150 does the same thing. The radio and other modules go hot as soon as you unlock, open the door, etc. Same thing when you turn the truck off and lock it. Again, this is what my F-150 does. I can't check...
