They work well for ingress/egress but have an annoying rattle that I can't track down.

I plan on going through all the bolts again to see if any have shifted or loosened up since install.

When I first installed them and “used” them the drivers side front mount shifted up a bit. No noise but I did have to reposition and retighten it.

I made a sudden unexpected modification to my tailgate today.

I was backing up, and a tree snuck right up next to the right side of my truck.
I was on to it, and watched so that I didn't back my right side mirror into it.
Little did I know that the tree's buddy snuck in right behind me, but much closer.
While I was avoiding hitting the tree with my mirror on the right, his buddy behind me HIT ME!

They ganged up on me. I had no chance. They are faster than you might think.
They probably did this because I cut down one of their buddies near by. Vengeful SOBs!

Now it doesn't close like it used to. The tree didn't even hit me that hard.

Yep, tailgate is aluminum. I assumed steel, until I bent mine.

Besides watching out for vengeful trees, be careful backing up with your tailgate down, even if you have extra long tree trunks in the bed. They might go between an object behind you. I can see some humor in this, but I'll be MORE carefuller (that's a word) next time. Ugh.

Yep, tailgate is aluminum. I assumed steel, until I bent mine.

Ours were steel on the 5G, - not sure about the 6G, they really are heavy, but also incredibly strong. Could probably safely place 6 Indian or 4 African elephants on one.

So for the last two days, I washed and waxed and detailed all the plastic. I used to be able to do this in 1 day but I can and do take my time now. Being old and retired has some benefits.

It happened to my 22 ranger as well. All the pdr and body shop guys said its aluminum, lost cause, buy a new one what i was going to do (i bought a 2024 ranger) was buy a new tailgate and have it painted and just switch over all the attached stuff myself. I can do mechanic work so i kew what i was doing, do not know if this is something you could do. But i can say is not too hard if you got the time and can attend the university of youtube
