Well it was only 95 here vs 100 so what's a 74 yr old to do ? Change the oil and the wife was out so I cursed as often and as loudly as needed, but things went super smooth. However couldn't clear my mind of the ford dealer flyer in last week's mail, the "works" for just $99.

Not to rub salt in the wound but there's also an additional $20.00 rebate off The Works package from Ford. There's several more rebates too that are stackable. I'm getting mine done on the 12th. lol

At 71 and having done my own repairs and modifications (including big motor motor swaps into Pintos, Mavericks, Mustangs, F-100s and Rangers) since I was 16, I find it difficult to let the 16 YO me work on my truck now. To simplify the oil changes, I installed a Fumoto valve. No splashing hot oil, buckets of Speedi-Dri, no dropping the skid plate and much less cursing. :) Just put the hose on, feed it into a jug and turn the valve.

My choice of oil pan valve is one called Valvomax. It is a capped ball valve that uses a fitting to open the valve when the fitting is screwed onto it. Changing oil when warm, using the included clear plastic hose, and a container large enough to hold 6+ quarts of oil makes the whole process relatively simple and clean. Price is around $50 but do some shopping and you might find it a little less expensive. BTW, I do recognize that nothing is simple!

If you buy one and just have to install it before the next oil change, it can be done with minimal mess. I did just that with my 2020 Escape. A sheet of plastic to protect the floor is recommended.

Thanks for posting this, I'm about ready for my 20k. I'll print em off and make my appointment :like:
Right above the rebate for The Works is another for $50.00/off any service over $100. You can stack both of these for $70.00 your oil change.

The Valvomax makes the oil change easy.

Eliminates having to drop the FX4 skidplate and the hose puts the oil where I want it to go.

Now the oil trough on the driver side that catches the oil from the filter, that one's usually messy as just when you think it's stopped dripping, it drips some more.

I run a paper towel through it to lessen the mess.

And concerning the sheet of plastic, when I had my 1996 Lincoln MKVIII LSC I learned the magic of a sheet of aluminum foil to guide the oil.

The MKVIII shoehorned the 32V 4.6 V8 into a chassis that was designed to hold a V6.

Replacing the oil filter required extreme dexterity, a couple of extra joints in your elbow and wrist, circus act contortion skills, and a few sticks of incense burned to the deity of oil changes.

Removing the filter required pulling it out it through tiny openings and rotating it through around 720 degrees which meant oil went EVERYWHERE if you didn't put down the formable aluminum foil.

I changed it once and then went to a reputable Quick Lube place after that time.

Geeze!! That was one of the first things I bought when I put together the '22 Ranger in January. It was at the top of the list for the '21 when that came on board in April.. You could have meant glovebox dampener too! Did those as well. I liked the way that the '19 F-150 dampener was installed, behind the taillight, but it was pricier.
Thanks for the input.
