I definitely will if/when I decide to get one. I know Annie won't want to ride in the trails so it'll give me something to do while she's still working the next 2 years. lol

Gun shop? That's not a job that's like getting a retirement COLA bonus!! I'd almost feel guilty taking their money and would want to pay them. 😂
If I can bring the money home instead of guns every month!!😂

Besides the cheap 10 speeds I had in the 80's and 90's, the first real bike I got was a used 1995 Trek road bike. It was very decent but not the best fit. I crashed it into a culvert and had to have a new front fork an wheel put on. I sold that and got a used custom built Soma. Damn does that bike feel just right. I also bought a new Trek mountain bike which is awesome, but those fatty's look interesting. Don't bike much, but when I do, a quality bike makes a world of difference.
The new tech is amazing. The bikes work with you instead of against you.

I saved up and bought a new Schwinn Varsity Sport when I was about 14. It was very expensive for a kid but I put several thousand miles on it with only maintenance and tires. A friend and I would sneak out of our houses at night and go for 40 to 50 mile rides with those generator lights until one day I got caught climbing back in my bedroom window 4 in the morning. I caught he'll from my mom and that woke my dad up grumpy to kick my ass good. Then she called my friends mom to let her know. We never did that again. Riding at late night was actually the safest back then because the roads were empty and our parent didn't understand that.

I always thought those were so cool! I had the K Mart version 20" wheels and banana seat. Later we slammed the seat down as low as the sissy bar would let us and put on " butter fly" handlebars. Then we wrapped a motocross cross bar pad on the sissy bar so we could sit on that to do wheelies! We were so cool!!😎😂

We use to set up a ramp in the neighborhood with a log and an old board and jump over our friends. o_O I ended up breaking the front forks off of mine going for the longest distance. :( The good thing is I didn't land on anyone. lol

But were you this cool:question:😂

Yes!!😃 We were that cool. Didn't jump over any friends but the home made ramps, curbs and anything to get air!!😂 And the playing card motor was always fun!😎 That's probably a big reason mountain biking is so much fun, reliving being kids!

That's the key, having fun and always being a kid at heart! Sadly today's kids will never know how to have fun and how much we had with very little. Heck, we use to go out in the woods and be gone all day just exploring the trails and climbing trees. lol Today they're buried in their phones and tablets thinking the internet is reality and have little to no interaction skills with others.

That's on the parents. Don't start that with them instead get them outside. Put them on bikes, take them camping and give them toys to manipulate and use imagination with. That's how we all grew up. Shoot, I was carrying my own pocket knife from 4th or 5th grade to today even at school! 😂 No one knew because I wasn't a dumb @$$ with it. I was taught to be responsible and my folks knew I had it at school. 😎 Old school, always have a knife with you. The ultimate tool!
