Hey all, I'm new to the Knoxville area and would be interested in getting a group going for the area.

Hey y'all, my wife's nephew is visiting us next month, and we'll bring him up to the High Country at some point. I thought about maybe taking him for a bit of light off-roading; any place in the area that you'd recommend?

@LaBalbe Old NC 105 from Lake James to Linville is a nice road.

On the opposite side of Linville Gorge is quite a few forest service roads and also the drive up to Table Rock.

Also, Brown Mtn Beach along Wilson's creek is beautiful.

Globe Rd. from Colletsville to Blowing Rock.

Colletsville to the Blue Ridge Parkway on Roseboro Road is nice as well.

I'm in far western NC, next to Tail of the Dragon and I'm looking for a place to test out my 4WD. It seems the most challenging roads I can find are simple gravel roads which is disappointing.

Anybody know of any moderately challenging where I can get a little mud on the tires and play with the 4WD?

Apparently not, would be fun to get a group together for some offroading.

I'd definitely be up for joining when I'm in the area, but someone else is going to have to take the lead on this. I'm too far away and don't know the routes well enough.

Would enjoy doing a Ranger trail ride. Fall seems to be a good time.
