Well my EGR tube is wet. Pretty sure its coolant. Smelled it the entire 3 hour drive today. Didn’t smell it yesterday. I did just replace the DPFE sensor. This one wont last long if there is coolant in the tube as well.

What would cause it to be on the outside of the tube? Any coolant crossover lines back there? Or if the cooler failed that bad its leaking out somewhere, I sure hope it is limited to the outside of the tube.

Ill pop the cowl off tomorrow afternoon and get a good look at it.

The water pump is one that side towards the front and a bit lower, airflow could be pushing it towards the back

Firstly make sure it's not just one of the coolant hoses which feed it. If not, you need to take further action.
Go to one of those places that can put the UV dye in and do a pressure test. If it's cracked externally it's almost certainly already, or about to crack internally too. If this happens it will dump the coolant into the intake and once the level drops, result in at best, a blown head gasket, and at worst, a cracked head or block. This has been a major issue on killing Ford 3.2 diesels over here, don't ignore it, most people don't get the luxury of a warning.

I am familiar with the diesel issues. We have them here on our diesels as well. Im disappointed a gas engine has one.

I am going to look back there today and see what I can find. Ill buy dye if I can’t find it.

Most modern turbo petrol engines tread a fine line between running boost and pre-ignition, and dumping hot exhaust gas in would just make matters worse.

I think valve overlap is a better solution. Other companies do that and they can meet NOx requirements. Just not a fan of new cars and their complications anymore. Its sort of ruining my love of engines.

Alright there is a sensor on the egr tube, the moisture starts right before that. So I am less inclined to think its the cooler. Probably a coolant leak near the hpfp

Its wet around intake manifold a bit. Maybe I spilled oil, maybe its leaking. Not sure on why the egr tube is wet.

Added some uv dye. Clearly a leak on the outside. The hoses for the dpfe are bone dry. Hopefully thats a good sign.

Found coolant on the frame rail. Got a spot by the overflow and a spot on the brake like bracket. Getting somewhere.

91k. I cant see any spots anywhere. Might just be some spilled oil from my last change 1k ago finally burning off and maybe I never fully tightened the coolant cap. It seemed to take a few more turns than I remembered. It was low from the factory at the min mark. Topped it off last year.

Phone is hard to jam in these spots too. A go pro would be nice. Might just have to give it a day or two and check again.

If nothing obvious, I believe I would wipe/clean/degrease as best I could and give it a little time like you said... not sure if degreaser takes the dye off ? but the cleaner the better to see if it's still leaking...
My Rock auto just got here as I type so I'm gonna give mine a good looky while I'm in there ... (air filter , and cabin filter and oil change, they had the air filter at half the price I see around here )
