Who remembers doing this? Some of my best memories were driving around with a car full of friends and no place to go. Gas was around $0.75/gal and you could drive for hours doing absolutely nothing and still have fun!

Yeah! Crusin' the Ave with your favorite tunes blaring on the 8-track, showing off at the lights. Those were good times!

I can remember these (vaguely) when my dad would pump gas and having to spin the dial like this one.

Unfortunately my recollection isn't vague....I was there !!!
And, 8-track tapes were still a dream...we had underdash 45 rpm record players !!!

And in the wintertime after it snowed holding on to back bumper and doing what we called sole surfing which was fun until you hit a dry spot in the road and could not run fast enough to keep from doing a terrible wipeout.

You always carried a set of points, condenser, a few spark plugs, dist cap, and a generator (later alternator) belt in the trunk.
Pretty much every car and truck used 30 weight high detergent oil, and an extra quart kept in the trunk was mandatory.
