yeah i've been loosely tracking this thing.

there are a couple of things that really drew my attention:
- VW knew they didn't have the know-how to make this thing, so they brokered a deal with Rivian to be able to use their EV architecture on their EVs. so this Scout should have Rivian DNA. I think that's a GREAT thing.
- i was worried this would be a $100k+ tech bro vehicle, but the CEO of Scout Motors said they wanted to stay true to the Scout's heritage. No giant tablets (i'm sure it'll have some kind of a large touchscreen, no matter what he says), and a focus on physical dials/buttons/switches (post above by admin). I think he even stated they want those older interior materials to really speak through in their design.

i'm hoping this is an affordable EV. i'd be tempted.

Reveal is happening now.

https://www.scoutmotors.com/

Reminds me of a Rivian, but much better looking.

Kinda a low bar though as Rivians are VERY ugly.

I think EVs have a solid place in US vehicle ownership and use.
I also think E-Pickups don't make much sense, yet.
If someone is a weekend cowboy and wants to look cool, good choice.
If someone uses a pickup for its torque and towing/payload capacity, iffy choice. Sure-sure, EV torque is legendary.....for a limited amount of miles.
My neighbor's Lightening F150 can't make the 220 mi round trip with our 4K# boat trailer w/o a recharge. Our Ranger gets around 15 mpg with the hitch load, but I'm not worried about making the trip with reserve miles left.

Never thought I'd be tempted by an EV but these look and sound great. The bench seat in the truck is almost enough on its own

They didn't say but I'm pretty sure they are AWD? That won't be good.

By the time 2027 rolls around, they'll be in BK and never produce anything.

Those are nice looking rigs - a couple of things in my quick glance:
  • Pure electric models offer up to 350 miles of range. Scout’s extended range models offer 500 miles of range or more through a built-in, gas-powered generator.
  • Entry models starting as low as $51,500 with available incentives. Retail prices starting under $60,000.
While those prices aren't TOO bad, it is too rich for my blood. If I had that kind f money I wanted to spend on a new truck I'd go get a Ranger Raptor. I would expect they will have a few growing pains when they are first released - but that is still 2+ years away (2027 MY)

They look neat and, as noted above, similar to the Rivian. The backing from VW should help them actually hit the market, so long as they don't back out.

I'd like to see the Alpha Motors SuperWolf hit the market, because I think it looks better, but that will most probably never happen.

I really like em. Great look. Interior is well thought out.
The reveal event itself was pretty neat because the CEO spent a lot of time talking about his gratitude just making it this far. The other guy talking almost seemed incredulous as well. Kind of felt like a love letter to anyone rooting for them. Stark contrast to big corporate announcements where the attitude is more along the lines of “you wish you could buy our product, don’t you? We’re so badass.”

if I pulled the trigger it’d be on the hybrid model. I have a feeling that one will be crazy expensive.

What I really wanna know is how these things will get serviced? Will there be scout dealers or will VW dealers manage it? I also don’t love that I’m essentially locking myself out of my own maintenance. I gotta go to the dealer for anything.

If I got an EV truck it’d be this one. Might be too many question marks for now, though. 2027 production is a ways away tho.
