Did you hit any rain in NM? There was serious flash flooding in certain areas of the state yesterday. We got a nice rain in ABQ last night after a dry period.

No, there was only small sprinkle early when we left Tucumcari around 6:00am. You could see the dark rain clouds off in the distance but it looks like we got lucky and were driving away from the storms.

Both days were actually perfect for driving. The first day (once we got outside of Holbrook, AZ) was spotty clouds all the way to Tucumcari which kept the heat and glare down. Didn't have to use the ac at all which was nice driving and getting fresh air for a change. It was the same the second day but a little hotter, especially once we got into Oklahoma so the ac was on from there until we got here.

... Annie is super freaked out because even though it's a city the homes are spaced out here and not like the cookie cutter neighborhoods in AZ. She's looking out the windows and says "All I see is trees and only 2 houses". ? I can't wait until tonight when she sees there's no street lights!:cool:

Don't forget to mention that the only shopping is available on 10bpm* dial-up modem to America On-Line-Amazon...probably take a day to get an order in, but.....Prime delivers mule fast I think

I totaled everything up and I averaged 21.2 mpg with the cruise set to 75 most of the way. While still not bad numbers I got a lot better on our trip last summer going though high mountain passes in WY, MT & SD. There was so much wind through NM & OK it really killed it on this trip. Total miles ended up at 1,258 and $215.60 for fuel so just over $3,000 including the ABF Freight truck to move which isn't to bad considering how high everything is now. One huge bonus is I filled up today for $3.09/gal for premium and regular was at $2.72/gal.

The ABF truck is still sitting in Kansas City, MO and expected here between Tuesday - Thursday. It better be Tuesday because we're running out of clean cloths and we've been using my 12V cooler as a bench seat at the kitchen island. lol Good thing I had a nice queen size air mattress which is really comfortable. Annie likes it so much she said lets just use that and not unwrap the bed. lol I think the thing I love the most is being able to take a cold shower in the summer! In AZ all you get it hot water from the cold side all Sumer long. With no frost line there the main pipes are only buried 18" below grade. So with the 110+ temps and the water pipes running through your attic it makes for an even more miserable summer when you cant take a refreshing shower. ?

The ABF truck arrived around 11:15 yesterday morning and luckily it was an overcast day but still pretty humid. My builder was nice enough to stop by and give me a hand for a couple hours unloading some of the heavier stuff like the couches and bed and some boxes. All together it took me 4 hours (the same as it did to load it) but It was much easier unloading than loading and surprisingly nothing (so far) was broken.

We spent a couple hours last night unloading some of the boxes but a lot of them will stay packed until next spring. This place looks like a bomb went off with stuff scattered everywhere. ? We've been sitting on my Setpower 12v cooler for the past four days so the first thing I put together last night were the bar stools. lol Today we'll get Annies desk set back up, our bed and the living rm and tv so I can pass out there for a few days once we're done.?

Thanks for reminding me. lol At least that one "should" be a little easier seeing as we're only moving 3.5 miles. I'll most likely do it little by little with my truck and maybe just rent a U-Haul trailer for a day.

Remember the next one should be the last one. That's what I'm hoping with ours, but you never know what life throws at you.

That's for sure brother! We're building this as our forever home but I'm also making sure it has a good resale (not to personalized) just in case something happens down the road. I knew I'd never live in AZ forever, heck I only bought it for an investment during the whole foreclosure/short sale period. It was a good stepping stone for a while but big city life is NOT for me! It's so nice to wake up to birds chirping again and friendly neighbors.

If I had it my way I'd but 20+ acres and build my house in the middle of it but Annie would never go for it. She's a city girl but I think this place will be a good compromise for both of us. She was really happy when a neighbor down the street stopped by to welcome us to the area, something that never happened in AZ after 12 years of living there.

Oh, make sure to send your new address for the home wrecking 5G party. ?
