Leer 100XR/Snugtop Rebel and Bed Cap Owners Question.

I’ve been looking for a used bed cap for my truck for quite some time. Recently I came across a used Leer XR100 and Snugtop Rebel in my area. I’m wondering if anyone can elaborate, if you own one or which you think would be a better choice. Fit, finish and quality.

Also. My main concern is, I watched a YouTube video of a person that removed his Leer cap and after removal, he had a lot of bed paint damage from the cap rubbing along the top of the bed just below the bed rails. I know it could have probably been improperly installed/shifted or not clamped down good enough. But have anyone of you ever noticed the same issue when you removed yours? Is this a common problem or possibility with caps? I wouldn’t be leaving mine on permanently and don’t want it to damage my bed or have to deal with paint damage if I were ever to remove it. Thanks.

I just had the 100XR installed, so I don't have a lot of experience. Judging from how it sits on the bed rails I wouldn't expect any rubbing of the paint.

Thanks. I’ve never really heard about such a thing or really thought about the possibility. But the video freaked me out a bit. This is what I’m talking about. Not the greatest pic but he also had the same damage in the middle of the bed. Only on one side. How do you like your XR100?

So far I really like it, especially paying the extra to get the rear glass integrated with the tailgate lock, so it locks/unlocks with my keyfob rather than needing a separate key. The side windows are on their own key, but thats just fine by me.

The one thing I don't think I was fully prepared for was the rear visibility, the cab isn't all that tall so your view out the back is quite restricted (and its dark!), but it just takes some getting used to and now doesn't bother me.

Tony, you could always run some PPF (Paint Protection Film) along the edge. It should help protect it since you're not leaving it on all the time. Inspect in when you remove it and reapply if needed.

The Leer in thinking about is selling for $1500 like new but it’s Red and I’d have to get it repainted! Carpeted interior, has the fold down or sliding front glass and not sure about the tailgate lock. I’m hoping to get it a little cheaper but haven’t made a decision or offer yet!

My out the door total was just under $3600 which included install. One perk of new is the warranty which applies to only the original owner, so for me that maid l made it a no brainer as I don't really see me replacing the truck anytime soon.

I was definitely thinking about that!! Great idea but I’m wondering if it would rub through that too.

I know they have different thicknesses but I would think you could even overlap another layer over one and try that?

Or....Just spray a whole bottle of 303 Graphene Nano spray on both bed rails and you'll be GTG! ?

I may do two layers of PPF. If it’ll stick with all the 303 I have on it
