Hey all,

For those that did the CF Steering wheel, how has owner ship been with it? Any pictures to share will be great. Curious how well they age and if the CF stays looking nice over the years.

With the new gen Rangers coming out, I feel like I should just pull the trigger already before companies EOL them. I am just not sure what companies do it best. Was considering the SoCal Garage Works version but not sure I am overlooking a better option? It seems like most of these companies are using OEM wheels to modify the trim so safety does not seem to be an issue at all for those concerned.

Thanks!

That is good to hear, that was the brand I was leaning towards the most. I may go for a steering wheel this year. Looking at all the new generation trucks, I will be keeping my Ranger. Just a good ol' truck, love this thing.

Looking into brake upgrades at this moment since I think I may be needing brakes this year. Originally was just looking into pad/rotor upgrades but man, there are a few big brake kits out now. So tempting.

Btw, how much is installation because I def can't do that myself.
Installation is easy. Basically, pop out the airbag (once you know how, super easy); there is one nut in the center, undo it, slide the wheel off, slide new one on. 10 minutes tops...

NOW, the question is, do you have to send them your wheel to be modified and covered?? or just a core exchange?? When I did my wheel (I did not do all the carbon stuff, just re-leathered it) I got a second wheel from eBay and sent it in; when it came back I could pick my time when I wanted to install it.

Also, they will want just the core of the wheel not all the surrounding plastic and switches. They all simply unscrew for the core with a 22 or 25 mm torx screws. You take that of your wheel and put in on the new one. Whole process is 45 minutes tops, including the install.

If you need help, let me know, can walk you through it.

Thanks for all that info. If I did decide to have it done by someone else, what type of shop would you recommend? One you could trust to take pride in the job and do it right.

The task of swapping in a steering will is fairly basic in terms of mechanical skills but vehicle/brand specific knowledge will prevent all the poking around to figure out how Ford did/does it (like I did when I was figuring it out... popping airbag was a struggle at first till I figured out (OK search YouTube for video) and wa-la, easy as all get out.) I would guess a body shop is a good place as they have to deal with airbag replacements regularly. Just make sure they work on domestic are and NOT a Euro car specialty shop.
