What do you do with those hammerlocks?
I'm thinking of placing them in the safety chain connection loops. Safety chains can still connect to the hitch's loops or connect to the hammer-loks (I think "hammer-lok" is the trade name for the US-made ones I wanted but they cost ten times more and don't come painted). These are overkill and the half inch ones would be adequate, but these 3/4" ones can use readily availability isolators so that they don't rattle or wear on the connection loops.

I think some Australian off-roaders use these for trailering. And I've seen them used on F-250s.

And you can use soft shackles with them. I do have a shackle hitch thing but I may not need it now. And you can spread the load across both with proper rigging.

It's also an aesthetic thing for me. Some like wheel spacers and giant tires, some like leveling kits, and I like a "utilitarian" look (like that chain on the front shackles).

I know of these from my dad's time as a Chief Engineer (U.S. Navy and merchant marine later). I remember really big ones on anchor chains on the 210 foot geophysical ships he crewed on.

Lol, and take away a few pounds of payload, add traction (or add oversteer), and a place for truck nuts! =D

As you get older, the old bladder just doesn't work as well. Especially how long you can hold it, so I got something that might help.

A 40-gallon bladder!

I was going to do sandbags again this year but my shoulders get so achy that it makes it hard to sleep some nights (which is okay since I'd be getting up to pee anyway!). =D

So I thought I'd give this thing a try. It's a thicker material than I thought, kind of like a heavy old-school cloth-like pool float.

The grommets are decent, although they'd never hold in an emergency braking situation or an accident ("Man Drowns In Freak Ranger Accident at the Dump"). I think, once filled, it won't slide around much based on the material and Soupie's BedRug,

I think it could handle cardboard boxes and grocery bags but, for the cost, I'd be leery of what I stacked on it (I think it says you can put 500 pounds on it, I imagine that weight is based on the burst strength of the seams). I'll be tossing a folded 18-ounce canvas tarp on top of it as insurance (I may wrap it completely since I have a 10'x12' one). I'll also throw my smaller 12-ounce canvas dump tarp on top of that. The issue I worry about is moisture under the bladder on top of the BedRug - not sure it's a valid concern but ...

It is "baffled" but I'll also add a couple of gallons of RV antifreeze, which ShurTrax says will keep the water slushy (so I can drain it for those emergency dump runs at 10° below zero). It's designed to freeze, so you can leave plain water in it. But since my driveway has a slight angle, most would shift to the back of the bladder and likely freeze there here in New Hampshire.

I'll post "installation" pics soon ...

What are we looking at here? My interest is peaked...
?
It's the go fast bits diverter valve upgrade kit. Upgrades the valve and springs from the factory components to their stuff.

Comes with a machined aluminum body, new springs, new brass piston. The factory piston is plastic and feels pretty chincy.

According to them the way the factory unit is set up it's only open or shut. With theirs the boost pressure can open/close the valve progressively as needed so in theory there's less lag if you let off the pedal when accelerating and then need to get back on it again... because you haven't necessarily closed it completely, depending on your throttle input.

Seems like a good upgrade for relatively low cost and hassle.

Is the teenager blowoff component (BOV?) something that just makes the turbo noise? Not really familiar with it.
Yes. Rather than recirculate the boost pressure, it vents it to the atmosphere. That's what makes the whoosh sound that the teenagers love so much. It's also silly because you have to rebuild the boost pressure when needed.

DAMN.
YOU.

I want... seems like a simple enough upgrade that can actually yield mild but real driveability gains.

I didn't get a chance to take it for a spin today before work but allegedly it yields a more responsive throttle. We'll see ??‍♂

Even if it just makes for more reliable internals and better boost pressure with less lag it's worth the $160 or so

Looked on their web site but nothing for the Ranger....
Is it a generic fit for stock BOV ? Any benefit for a stock set up ?
Not really into the whole BOV swapping and don't need "sound", but like the idea of good stuff replacing plastic.

That's the one, there's a BOV version... avoid that unless you're 17 and you watch fast and furious movies

The linked version is the correct one, upgraded internals and NO atmospheric venting

Got it, understand. Thanks.
