"flopping aces" is certainly the carefully reasoned and well cited source I go to for all my energy policy questions
Seems like the Author Curt is a stand up guy. Much more that most people in America.

Curt

Born in 1967 in Walnut Creek, CA I enlisted into the Marine Corps at the age of 18 in 1986. I went into a communication MOS and was stationed in 29 Palms, Camp Pendleton, and spent my last year in Okinawa. I discharged in 1990 and joined the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department in 1991 (after undergoing a 11 month hiring process) and have been with the department ever since then. (Retired after 29 years and 3 months recently)

A political junkie since my early days in High School I still have vivid memories arguing with my liberal mother over Reagan, and even though I was too young to vote in 1984 I actively campaigned for Reagan by placing signs and stickers where ever I could.

To clarify, the opinion piece was first published on The American Thinker. Flopping aces simply picked up on it.

FWIW, (IMO) Flopping Aces has more credibility than the US Gov and the MSM.

I have never before visited Flopping Aces, so I give them the benefit of the doubt, and treat them as neutral.

But I have much experience visiting the professionals, and I have zero trust in our "official" government punditry proclamations. Hence I have restrained myself from visiting Gov or MSM sites, as I can digest only so much.... um, BS. It gives me indigestion.

Besides, I know plenty of local amateur liars who spin more convincing lies than the Gov and MSM professionals, and are much more entertaining to boot!

Cheers!

Well, the article holds some merit although the values may not be completely correct and are missing the carbon sinks.

Let's use Finland as an example (https://www.stat.fi/til/khki/2020/khki_2020_2021-05-21_kat_001_fi.html), as for that I have readily available data.

The total emissions (Table 1) vary by year (2013-2020).

62.9 - 48.3 / Total produced (million tons)
11.9 - 10.4 / of which traffic sector (including all cars, trucks, trains, etc.)
19% - 21.5% / traffic sector as percentage of total

In order to reduce the co2 use by said 70%, it would require Finland to stop electricity production (outside renewals), stop all traffic, stop heating houses, stop modern farming, stop waste processing and stop all industrial activities.

This would probably relate directly to US too.

Nice future view there and only people ready for the change are Amish.

Does your traffic sector include aircraft and shipping as well? I believe both aircraft and shipping dwarf auto emissions.

But your rationale is on target. Time to go back to 1850...

No.

Aircraft emissions are on separate line there, consisting of 0.1-0.2Mt and are just marginal compared to cow farts.

Shipping takes about 7.0 - 8.0Mt (https://www.traficom.fi/sites/default/files/media/file/MERIMA_tulosraportti_2005-2019_31052021.pdf), but this is actually under the combined "co2 tarif trade" line.

IMO, one of the big problems in our country today is that people base their willingness to listen to what people have to say on whether they are saying something the person wants to hear, rather than whether the speaker knows what they're talking about. If someone posts something you really agree with, with absolutely astounding numbers, and cites nothing, it's probably just clickbait.

If someone rants about "the Gov" and "MSM" in the process, it's even less likely in my experience to be well researched and grounded in facts.

Critical thinking skills are not optional. You need to read, not listen or see. The data is out there. Don't limit yourself to one viewpoint. Collect, discern, and seek truth. A hard ask with propaganda pouring out every orifice of society, government, media, etc.

I have a very strong sense that we are all being deluded, and lead.

For instance, the latest stink about immigration... Texas Governor put Texas Nat'l Guard at the Park blocking entry of illegals. Biden counters with threats. 25 states back up the Texas Gov. Makes great headlines. Yet 1/2 mile north from that park the 12' wall gate is open, no ICE or NG to be seen guarding that dirt road.

There is a plan at work. And we are all being manipulated to an end. To what end? I haven't the foggiest notion, except that my gut tells me that it doesn't have my best interests at heart. Or yours...

Think what you will. It is a free country (At least they say it is - I'd argue that it is not free at all)

For now. By the time most Americans wake up to reality, it may well be too late.

I'd rather have a hybred. Too much has to come into the picture for me to want an EV.
I think hybrids are the best of both worlds. The new Mazda CX-90 with the Turbo Inline 6 with (electric) power boost is a great automobile. 30mpg in luxury, outstanding fit and finish inside and out. I've test driven one - Wonderful

The truckers and protesters going down there should be wary if someone with a name like "Jay Reps" tells them "We need to go into the border! Into the border!"

Another problem is everyone loves to cite "experts" an ignore the actual effects on peoples lives.
I saw a video where there was a news report out asking people on the street about the current economy. They asked truckers at truck stops about the price of fuel. They gave real experiences they were having. Then the snobby elites in the media were trashing everyday people expressing their concerns an experiences an started pointing to the "experts" about how great everything is. Don't believe what you see, believe what we tell you.

IMO many of these experts pick an choose the data to support their preferred side of an issue. When you point out the side of research or findings that disagree with their point they minimize it or try to explain it away.

One problem with research is most of it is funded by grants an gov money an I say there is pressure to support their preferred side of the issue.
