Haven't we been down the ev road previously in the history of vehicles? ?
Maybe that history has been erased.

yes many many times. all of them pushed aside as they were not practical on a large scale for the public. in fact henry ford had some ev way back.

just to add some meat to it. ev were nearly 40 percent of the nations automobiles long before we were born. pre civil war. just one example A.L. Riker, electric Brooklyn, New York, 1896. Its got tubular steel frame, wire wheels, and pneumatic tires Lead-acid batteries are under the seat, and a 40-volt, one-horsepower electric motor powered. Although quite successful at building electric vehicles, Riker sold his company in 1900. this was not a one off or rare thing. riker was selling his ev against several big names from auto history eventually even henry ford. this one is at the Ford museum, still works. point being ev is not new. it is not the way of the future. literally ev is the way of the past that was tried doggedly and left behind like steam power.

To summarize for those not familair with automotive history...
EVs went away previously because of range, convenience and cost.
Nothing to do with marketing, speed or mandates.
Doesn't sound like anything has changed except it's now bedazzled with technology.

An ev isn't marketed to the masses as a take a roadtrip across the country vehicle, right now.

Heck, when we move into an rv, I am going to look into an electric vehicle to tow (even in a trailer) behind the rv so we only have to fuel 1 vehicle...

I would argue, 90% of people with multiple vehicles in their home could do away with all but 1 gas vehicle. Even now in our house, when we replace her car next I think it'll be an electric vehicle. She doesn't drive her car long distances often. And if we needed to, we could make it work by planning out our charging stops etc, or take the truck (that is if she doesn't get a rivian rt1...)

you know i bet 60% of the sour taste of ev crap would go away if the stupid mandate would go away and the forced solution looking for a problem was not an act of government. i dont care who you vote for or against, our government is great at fing things up. "Im from the govt and im here to help" sounds more like a threat to the average voter these days than an a comfort. Let the free market be what it is supposed to be - free. the "problems" people harp on for ev like range and charging dont mean poop to me. I simply do not want one no matter the range or the charge time etc. as i think they are worse for the Earth. no mandate from a politician is going to change my mind on that, nor will any fan boy stories or stats. Get off my lawn, maybe. but at least im honest lol. end the mandates and price them affordably and many might buy them.

My local Ford dealer took in 40 Mach e's and Lightnings because Ford Corporate offered them an allotment of extra Broncos and Raptors. They will lose money on every EV.

They took off...

...now they're all crashing in flames ????

They're worthless unless you're a city dweller driving within their reduced range, between charging stations ?
Own a EV in the city? SHTF, "they" flip a switch and you're geo F'd...no thanks...
