so last october i had my heater assembly box replaced in my 19 ranger. the driver side when heat was set to auto when it reached a certain temp outside would start blowing cool air out of the drivers upper vents and the pass side vents would be a tad bit wamrer. it is still doing that. is it normal for that? i mean is that how it blends air to keep it a certain temp inside?

Are the temps on both zones set the same? (assuming you have dual zone)

When in dual mode, you are using 5 sensors/ actuators (For Temp Control)

Temp Selected (Ex 72 Deg)

Drivers Side: Temp Actuator and Distribution Sensor
Passenger Side: Temp Actuator and Distribution Sensor
and
The Main Control: Humidity Temp Sensor, this is the Cabin Feedback sensor for what the cabin temperature actually is, note that it is also reading humidity.
So, in Dual it is adjusting both Temp Door actuators to achieve the (Same-Equal) overall temperature as read by the Humidity / Temp Sensor.
If you look by your Right Knee next to Ignition Switch or PB Switch, you will see a small inlet vent on the dash - This is the inlet for the Humidity / Temp Sensor, there is a small electric fan that draws air into that sensor - For Reading

so when I have it set to auto to where it is the same temp for both sides would what your saying mean that it’s possible for the small temp difference?

I have both sides synced to the same temp.

It is possible, but the Outside (OAT) temp and the Cabin Temp (As Read by the Temp/Humidity) sensor will control the Temp Door Actuators on both the Dr/Pass side, in an attempt to get an overall selected temp reading.

If you feel that the Passenger Side is not working correctly take it out of Dual (Auto) and select the Pass side all the way up and down and note, are you getting a temperature swing (distribution) air from the Pass Vents (Without any Popping Sound)
as for Passenger Side only (In-Manual) you are only using 2 things Pass Temp Door Actuator (Selected Temp) affects this door opening and the Distribution Air Temp Sensor, this is the feedback reading for the temperature of the air coming from the duct,
So it is basically a check, does the air coming out match the selected temp selected.

Did that and no clicking noise and temp was what it should be
