Small world, I live in Palm Harbor also. I think we will be alright over here. Looks like the east coast of Florida is going to take the brunt of it.

Lots of elderly family and neighbors I assist. We'll be fine. Would suck if the new truck was damaged but hey, that why we have insurance.
Sir,

Please stay safe and Blessings to you

I'm in Fort Lauderdale. Where do you live? My truck is not built yet so I guess that could be good thing if this storm comes in. I'm more worried about the storm surge because of the added bonus of it coinciding with a King Tide. I am about 500 feet from the Atlantic. I can't evacuate because I am on stand-by for my job. As for wishing us luck, yeah, but it may be either good or bad. Anyway, Good Luck to you.
I live in Tamarac. We are currently in Lake Wales at our camping site tying everything down and preparing it for the storm. Then we're heading back home tomorrow to help prepare.

So far, it looks like the storm may be turning north on Monday/Tuesday just as it hits the coast. I certainly hope it does however, that won't be good news for the coast. That path would cause devestation to the entire eastern coast. No good solution here...millions of people will be affected.

And here i am worrying about my truck. .

Thanks but many people would do the same thing if needed.
I thank my dad. He's the one that taught the important values that I use every day. He's the greatest man on the planet.

We'll be fine here, this isn't our first rodeo.

Hurricane Andrew completely devistated Miami. I work for Broward County Schools and we went to Dade County schools to help them get back on their feet after the storm. That was the most humbling experience of my life. To be able to see as far as the eye could see when everything was leveled where once stood buildings lush trees, businesses. People sitting on a pile of rubble that was once those house with guns protecting what I can only describe as "a pile of their lives" from looters. They lost EVERYTHING and in many cases their jobs as well. Local businesses destroyed. No job to go back to. Entire neighborhoods flattened ..NO JOKE..FLATTENED. It was like an "End of the world" movie...but it was real.

Humbling.

Wilma took the roof off the in-laws house. They moved in with us for 1 1/2 years until they could get their house rebuilt. That's what families do. They'd have done it for us. Life isn't easy sometimes. You just have to make the best of things and when you do, you can be pretty happy.

Everybody should help friends, family and neighbors. Theres no reason not to, none. Just do it. You'll feel better and the world will be a better place. In the grand scheme of things, its the least we can do and it costs nothing but our time.

Now stepping off my soapbox.

Thanks for letting me vent. I needed this.

Stay safe and good luck! Is there any room in a garage of one of the people you helped out? Maybe for helping them they would help you by letting you park your truck there before the storm hits.

Naa. Their cars are in it...BUT...I'm sure they would if I asked.

Again, the truck is heavily insured. I'm good.

Not dumb at all. There is no specify hurricane insurance. It's regular insurance that covers everything. Just like everywhere else.

Where it changes is homeowners insurance. THATS expensive.

Almost a year later, and large areas of Northwest Florida still look like a bomb was dropped on it after Hurricane Michael. These people are still suffering. I remember when Andrew devastated south Florida, terrible. It really is hard to comprehend unless you’ve seen it in person. I pray that Dorian will continue to move to the right & keep on going, hopefully missing the US coast entirely. That is my prayer. God bless you all.

Checking in from Orlando. Be safe to all my fellow Florida people! Hoping it keeps pulling further East but we'll see.

I'm all stocked up on food/water and the Ranger has a full tank.

Looks like a turn away from the coast is projected. We have still prepared and are ready with backup power, gas and food. This is great news for Florida but Andrew was expected to do the same and didn't. Lesson learned on that one. Models change with each advisory.
