Wiring RC lights to aux switch

I ordered my RC lights yesterday and will be installing this weekend. I want to make sure I get the wiring right.

I'm installing 4 lights with each light drawing 3 amps. So, using switches 5 and 6 is out. I'll be using 2 and 3 (considered putting all 4 on switch 2 but . . . <shrug>).

The image is from RC's website and is on the page for the lights I ordered but I didn't order a light bar.

I'm planning to cut before the plug from the lights, separate and wire red to the switch and black to ground.

Do I have this right?

Kinda tricky basing off of that diagram and the fact you have multiple lights, i assume each is gonna come with their own gigantic harness unless its a kit?
Usually i toss that junk and get harnesses/plugs from SPV parts.

Normally if it came with a relay you could wire it to any aux switch as its supplying its own power, not the aux switch, which then just acts as a switch, so the amp limits can be disregarded. But again not sure how your multiple lights are set up.

Each set is 2 lights with a harness 1 set of spots, 1 set of floods.

I wired up something similar except I cut the harness after the connector so if I need to remove the front bumper, I can keep the lights attached and simply unplug them.

You are correct that this is the best way on a Tremor. Power comes from the aux wire, through the light, and ends up on the negative side where you land on the chassis. No need for the harness it comes with as long as (like you mentioned) you stay within the amperage limits of said auxiliary circuit.

I'm still working through the amp draw on these lights. I don't want to use 2 of the higher rated switches for lighting.

Per KC Hilites website (confirmed with an amp calculator site), the formula for amp draw is:

Amps = Watts / Volts

Per Rough Country's website the lights I've chosen are 60W (2 lights @ 6 x 5W bulbs each).

60W / 12V = 5A

So, I should be able to use switches 5 and 6.
