Recent problem - getting constant dash alarm that the doors are open and the cab light comes on - even when doors are completely shut. Came out one morning and the battery was completely drained. WHAT IS THE WIRING CONNECTION BETWEEN THE OVERHEAD CAB LIGHT AND THE DOOR? Is it a short circuit and how can I fix it?

Hi Nick,

It is likely a shorted door switch that is your problem or a chafed wire. The cab lights are supposed to come on when the door is open...so now to ID which door... Switches are easily removed, so take one out and see if the problem goes away...if not reinstall and try another door...should find the culprit...

Best,
Phil

When I had my 2000 and later 2010 SCAB's with the Suicide Doors, often times I would get a "Door Ajar" alert even though everything was closed. What I would find when checking the doors was that the lower latch on one of the rear doors didn't fully catch and while driving, the door would shift enough that it would trigger the alert and cause the dome light to come on. I just started shutting the door a little harder and giving it a tug to make sure that bottom latch caught. Never popped up again unless I forgot to check it.

Thanks, I'll give that another shot....but I think I've already slammed those doors shut a few times.

Thanks for your help! Now, unfortunately, I don't know where to find the switch let alone replace it/them. Can you offer any advice? Any web sites or you tube videos that might help?

The switch is normally part of the latch assembly on later models. I’m not familiar with your year specifically but most Fords after about 1997 or so do not have individual door switches, they are integrated.
