Google up CargoCatch.com. They show and list pretty much any type and manufacturer of truck cargo storage.
Lot of brand specific storage like the GMC, but also universal types.

Playing around, found them....their GM/Chevy accessory parts.
Some part # are 84705349 / 84705351. If you look them up, their available for long and short bed GM, but maybe you could mod them to fit the Ranger. They give dimensions on the GM/Chevy parts sites.
Very high $$$ though, around $650.00.
If your good with wood, you could easily make something similar, although with flat sides, coat it with black bedliner, all for 1/5th the cost.
Like this, but you could slim it down so it's flush with the wheel well.

Funny thing is Nissan did that before GM. Well inside the bed Nissan was first. Fiat/Ram did it a bit different and if you are lucky the electric actuator will work.

You know you could go with the Hurricane Fab Tailgate Storage. A still have mine available too. I find it to be handy especially since the Ranger is lacking in compartment storage. Never had an issue with water, dust and snow getting in.

If you are wondering the carpet can be removed if it concerns you as well. New its $600.

Get these swing cases, one for each side. I have the Ford branded ones. They look nice and are very useful. Easy to remove if you want the bed space, but I have never needed to.
