You never know here in Denver metro when you will confronted with an active shooter mass murderer...
sadly those things seem to happen all over and way too frequently. one time is too many. i know folks will flame me for this but i would not recommend a weapon in the truck. too much risk for theft or ending up in the hands of bad guys. a lot of cars get broken into these days. id much prefer folks just carry the weapons on there person in a holster of some sort.

Not just Denver, as any day you can read the news and see where Evil has made itself known.
It pays us all to be aware of our surroundings and as prepared as we can be to act in our own defense.

I also recommend NOT putting window and bumper stickers on vehicles, inadvertently advertising what someone can possibly steal from that vehicle.

Glock sticker = Free Glock if you break glass

Maybe just buy that 10mm handgun and make it my duty Ranger backup tool...
I'm going to echo the sentiment that your Ranger isn't a gun safe or holster. Modern 9mm hits hard - keep one on your body! Be prepared to do good. Congrats on your Splash!

Agreed.

Unfortunately the idea of a "truck gun" really doesn't work for the vast majority of us. Unless your truck is a ranch truck or you have the skills/dedication of @OFC Ranger just stick with your carry.

I remember gun racks being pretty normal to see in pickups years back. seeing a pump shot gun or bolt rifle or ar in someones back window was no big deal. it was a different world then. now i dont even want to leave a hidden gun thats small and out of sight in a locked car.

I've got the itch and the approval to scratch it!

I'm going to wait until I start my new job and see if we have any connections/hook-ups for ordering guns and an FFL that is used through the office (my new job sells firearms through their website). I think I'm going to go with the 4.25" with the HEX Dragonfly optic packaged with it. I am aware of people having some annoying but minor issues with these, but I'm hoping that by the time I get my order in and processed, I'll be good to go.

Outside of competition shooting where you'd run 10's of thousands of rounds per year, that little guy should serve you fine. If it gives you any hiccups, start with magazines first to see if it happens with only certain magazines or all magazines. If it is not a magazine issue, my favorite place to send a 1911/2011 style gun for refinement is Hayes Custom Guns in Texas. Great crew there, Aaron or Ben would take care of you.

My boss was thinking about a new handgun. He knows I shoot a bit so he asked me about some new Hellcat variant.

I said "I don't know, but if I were looking for a new Springfield I go Prodigy DS ALL THE WAY!" He said he'd check it out and we parted ways.

He came back at me later saying "Doug, that's a $1600 handgun."

I said "I know, I can't afford it and I was hoping you'd buy one so I could shoot it."

He said, "if you think I can afford that I'm paying you too much."

I pointed at his 700whp blown Mustang GT and just said "priorities" as I walked off.

Super jealous of you.

Wanna meet halfway for a range day when you get it? Is it single or double stack? Looks single to me.
