Hey there, wondering if any of y'all have thoughts on this.

Took my 2020 Ranger into the dealer for a 20k service, to address a creak/rattle I had since day 1, and to check out some sag on the left side of the vehicle.

They addressed the creak under warranty, but said that they would need to reset the Ford Performance 2.0 shocks I had installed. $1k to address, since I had them installed at a 3rd party shop. I wanted to have them done at a Ford dealership, but this was mid-pandemic and shops were backed up by months, and I found a shop that could get me in and out in a couple days. I believe that shop did quality work, but I understand Ford can't warranty someone else's install.

Once they finished that, they told me that there was still sag to a concerning degree, and they wanted to swap the rear leafs to see if that would address. It didn't, and at this point, they're out of diagnostics they can do, and have escalated this to Ford, with the belief that there might be an issue with the frame itself.

I'm sitting here with 23 days out of a truck and getting concerned about it's reliability, and when I'm going to get my truck back. I've had what seems like good guys on my ticket at a reputable dealer in Loveland, CO, but I thought I'd have this back in 1-2 days.

Any ideas on this one? Don't want to be a PITA customer, but starting to lose it. It's a good thing my partner has a vehicle or we'd be SOL, but mine is supposed to be the new reliable vehicle, and I've got travel coming up where I need my truck.

Thanks for any advice.

Loveland Ford?

Good luck with those tools.

How does one "reset" a shock?

Apparently the truck leans a bit? How much?

As far as reliability vs time at the dealer; my dealer kept mine for over a week just to find a bed mounting bolt loose. Then that didn't solve the entire issue; somehow on the forum figured out part two of the flock of bird noises.

Since then it has been great (minus my mild annoyance with the transmission that will hopefully end when my tuner comes in the mail)

Did the sag first develop after the shock install? What other mods do you have?

Mike Maroone Ford, took it to them as Ken Garff in Ft Collins didn't have availability until now, and Mike Maroone had better reviews.

Apparently the threading was off on the left by 8 threads.

Truck is sagging on the left by about 1.5 inches.

Nope, sag is recent, within the past few months.

Mods:
ICON UCAs
Ford Performance 2.0 shocks (front and back)
Livernois Tune

That's it regarding anything that would affect the driving aspects of the truck.

So unless the front struts were adjusted for a different height the Fox suspension did not cause any of that issue. Second, it is a little normal for the rear leafs to have sag on the left side. That is why there is a spacer plate on the left side. Even with the Old Man EMU Suspension that I installed on my Ranger it did a similar thing. Cant explain it entirely with the exception that the fuel tank is on the left side.

Hope that info helps

Ohh, Longmont, haven't delt with Mike Maroone other than their parts counter.

1 ½" is a lot.

Front, rear, or both?

If they determined it is a warranty issue they should set you up with a rental car and eat the cost up to $45 a day. Call ford customer service, they will reimburse you for that amount as long as your vehicle is in the shop.

I hope they're paying you car payment this month! If a dealer has to keep my truck more than a week they better plan on buying the damn thing. That's ridiculous service.

its strange that the issue showed up recently instead of all along. surely if something took place that bent the frame or leafs etc. that much you would know about it. i hope they get things fixed up and under warranty. you may be getting close to the lemon law reqs. if they cant get it handled soon that may be a way to work.

It may have been an issue for longer, but the front coils being off made it more glaring and visible to the naked eye. I'm also speculating that the issue pulled the front suspension off it's original thread setting, but the guys at Ford thought that unlikely. That's what I'm on the hook for $$$ wise though...

I called Ford CS, they basically told me to pound sand. I haven't talked to a less enthusiastic rep in a long time.

27 days... ?

What is preventing you from taking the truck back and driving it until they have time to fix it ? Do they have pieces of it unassembled ? I'd be all over them about not giving you the option to reclaim your vehicle.

Curious why you didn't go to Loveland Ford? They are the worst! But maybe you already knew that? Side note - Ken Garff doesn't answer the phone and has never called me back. Thinking at this point I may need to drive to Denver to get some warranty work done...ridiculous.

Anyway, sorry to hear about your truck. Hope you find resolution soon!
