Make sure you check out the bad lands. We camped there last nite. Totally amazing!
Thanks Mike. I hope you're having a great trip too Mike! Sounds like a really fun trip camping though that area. Post some pictures when you have time.

Badlands is already high on my list of things to do there, that list is getting larger too. I'm starting to think I'm going to need more than 6 days in SD because there's so much to so and see there.

Dave, when in South Dakota.......go to Spearfish.......on Main St you'll see a gas station (the only one).....go west about 1/2 mile.......you'll come to an intersection with a Chevy Dealer on the NW corner......take a left and drive into the alley.......little Restaurant called Sanfords......very good food! Sorry I don't know the street names......just know how to get there!
Thanks Brian I'll definitely check out Sanfords. I just hope this guy isn't cooking that day. ?

Scott, I knew you'd like them! I figure maybe if I design something a little more appealing you'd finally get one. ? Now how do I convince that stubborn old curmudgeon Al @Texasota to get one.:angry:
Hmmm, ... Maybe something involving a beer glass and wrist strap dampering system so he doesn't slosh his beer when tilting for a swig??:inspect:

This reminds me of friend that whenever I ask him “How far to drive there “? He would say something like “it’s a 3 beer drive”.

?I knew there was something I forgot to do. Have someone here keep an eye on you.? ?

Thanks Fig! Thanks for the tip but I always do. Got in this habit at a young age when riding street bikes because no one ever sees you until its to late. Now I'm always aware of what's around me unlike my gf who has tunnel vision when driving.

Plus I always have my friend Sig close by.

Dave, it looks like your having a great trip. I love all the pictures. I traveled thru Colorado, Utah, Nevada and Arizona back in the 80's with some buddies on our street bikes. We made the trips in 80 and 83 and rode the Durango to Silverton train in 83. I get to relive some of this thru your pictures. Enjoy your time with your GF. You only live once...............

Today we did the Durango to Silverton train ride. It's a 3 1/2 hour ride each way through the mountains and the Animas river with a 2 hour stop in Silverton. Silverton is a very small town with a full time population of only 567, yup it's really that small. It sits at 9,300' and was only 58* when we arrived but the sun was out and it was a great day! It's the gateway to a lot or really nice off roading/hiking trails and gets very busy in the summer when all the campers and RVers arrive.

We met a really nice couple traveling with their 3 kids in an RV basically doing what we're doing. They're from TX and headed up to SD and are now in CO so we got to see some great pictures of their trip up in Badlands and the surround area. Now they're headed to Flagstaff to see all the sites around there which gave me a chance to give them some tips on where to go and eat and take the kids to Bearzona which is a zoo over in Williams, AZ. One thing I always loved about traveling is meeting great people along the way. Hopefully we'll meet up again one day!

Some downtown Silverton shots. There's mostly a few shops, restaurants and a couple motels but a cool old town none the less.
