This is not at all about politics.

Totalitarian regimes are colorblind. They exist on both extremes of the spectrum.
And even the so called middle/center becomes extrem instantly if if one of them senses an advantage … put in any excitement from a random paper/blog/fb/tt

maybe we can find a “legal“ spot between political theory and day-to-day politics without forming camps and gettin primitive here in the forum:question:

They claim to be supported of the USA and spend money on that type of stupidity ?
unfortunately they think this isn‘t stupidity but a very cool „must have„ feature to generate money and movement data for the advertising industry/SAVETY from… they implement more and more features in usual peoples live every dictator in history would have had wet dreams... the good guys are the good guys, u know …
A certain point seems to have switched it and some hardworking madman thought the early 20th century dystopian sci-fi plots were an instruction...or they're just too stupid theory to understand :lipssealed:

I fear that the day will come when the realization that "Privacy = Freedom" will resonate with the population... after it is too late to do anything about it. "If they can, They will."

I designed and built both HW and SW Neural Network AI engines in the mid 1980's, and implemented them in test case smart homes (and in Banks where the AI quickly eclipsed the Loan Officers success loan approval rates) at IBM Service Research. We ran the loan data from the bank records through the AI engine. It went from a blank slate to a 80% gain in forecasting who would default on loan in less than 24 hours. The AI could see and correlate patterns that none of us or the bank employees could see. It learned at an incredible rate. This was ~40 years ago!

We saw the future way back then. We contemplated the ramifications... all of them.

And everything we saw is coming along according to plan as technology allows it.

None of this is an accident. Smartphones (HW & SW) are carefully constructed to maximize face time. They woo you with convenience, and monitor and control you without your knowledge or understanding. If you think that you are in control of your decision making, I assure you that you are not. There are highly sophisticated AI algos at work that know you better than you know you.

You don't believe me? Simply look around you in any location and count the people transfixed on a 3x6 screen to the exclusion of the real world. It is almost as if the phone is glued to their hands. They can no longer psychologically do without the device.

The device HW & SW is designed to be addictive. This is our reality. Surveillance Capitalism is real and is being morphed and spreading into all aspects of our society.

The merging of BIo tech, Nano tech, and Computer Tech has and is occurring. The ramifications are incredible in scope.

I love and use technology. I endeavor not to allow it to use me.

I hope that I am not boring anyone, Sometimes I talk too much. I am jumping off my soapbox.... back to my trusty Ranger topics.

T
it looks like far too few have read or even understood "1984" and "brave new world"... or its just a I made money and if it becomes worse im dead already

"Freie Fahrt für freie Bürger" is practically Germany's motto, so I doubt a program/experiment like this is mandatory. Here is the German press release that says that Ford is testing two fully electric Transit Vans in Cologne using Geofencing to maintain speed limits in pedestrian heavy areas (Speed limit 30kph) It's a test program between Cologne, Ford Europe and Ford's engineering in Palo Alto California.

My guess (and it's just a guess) is that German cities would offer incentives for drivers to opt in or make cars that don't participate pay tolls like they currently do with older cars that meet older, but legal, emissions standards.
Mainly, "free travel for free citizens" is a slogan used ironically to discredit people who don't want a speed limit on the Autobahn these days. Except that these roads are built exactly for fast driving. Maybe not faster than 200 km/h, but fast. We have wider lanes than other European countries etc.

I don't want them (Ford) controlling how I drive. Leave that up to the police.
But Ford only implements features so that the police can do their job better. just for your safety and that of the kids of course... ;)
AND THEY ARE ON THE GOOD SIDE...
take some of the sarcasm and make something nice of it :champagne::beer:

This is thee LAST thing I'd want here! I don't want Ford or any manufacturer monitoring my speed. Lets let the police handle the speeders and the manufacturers stay the heck out of our business! What could go wrong?

https://www.yahoo.com/autos/ford-wants-force-not-speed-170000420.html
If this will happen, Ford cannot build those over 400HP engines, we all be driving 150hp or less trucks and cars. Even at the HP that we have in our Ranger, it won't be necessary, so in turn they won't make any $$$ cause all thier Cars and trucks will be all horse less.

Tony,
You scaring me, bro.
Are you an AI?
We Ranger friends okay!!!
Peace out bro !!!
I work in Technologies as well but not AI. I wanted to solve an issue that can help in everyday life using technology but everytime I tried it fails, so maybe I'll just keep on trying till it comes to life.

Get over it!

While it is factual, that gun deaths have surpassed vehicle deaths per annum, the number killed and maimed in vehicle crashes is way higher than a civilized society should put up with. Using vehicle data transmitted to surrounding vehicles, is one method of alerting drivers of obstacles ahead. Like build-in radar systems, this data can be used to help prevent crashes due to inattentive drivers.

One of the reasons drivers are inattentive, is all of the various gadgets built into the dashboards of modern vehicles. The infotainment and control screens are as large as a 50's era TV sets! since these "devices" are causing a huge percentage of the problem, then why not use the same technology to help prevent the crashes they incite?

At some time, almost everyone here has been rear ended, sideswiped, even hit head on, by an inattentive driver. In too many cases, the inattentiveness was due to being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. this alone is enough incentive to propagate the use of technology as an aid in controlling it.

Deaths are one thing to be reckoned with, but so are the estimated cost of nearly $900 billion spent per year due to vehicle crashes. And please!! Don't call them accidents, because they're not accidents! Rather, they're on purposes!

I would have to agree. I suspect that this is another step towards self diving cars also.

If these are the lengths we as a society have to take to make the road a safer place, then I guess that's what we have to do. Obviously better training, awareness, and having people care a little more about their fellow human would help, but that's not going to happen. This is what it has come to because each individual doesn't seem to care enough to be safe on their own.

And as far as the "leave that to the police" argument. I can drive for weeks and thousands of miles and never see a police officer. Meanwhile, during that time I'll see dozens of traffic violations that are a safety risk.

Please bear in mind, this is only a scale prototype solution to the very valid tracking concerns. I have also worked with Reynolds who has agreed to cosponsor the work on a full sized prototype with full scale production to begin in the fall.

The great thing is that this will also work well as a bed cover, bug deflector and radio signal enhancer!

I am very enthusiastic as this is a pretty sexy solution! ?
