Factory bump stops

Well a few months ago I cut the factory rear bump stops down where that plastic ring is. I have hauled over 1000lbs in the bed, and towed a 5k trailer since. It does not squat excessively or cause any interference under there. I can say that speed bumps, pot holes, and off roading are much smoother. Doesn't feel like I'm being kicked in the butt anytime there is a large impact. I'll get pictures tomorrow morning. Just a thought for a free ride quality improvement. Didn't want to post too soon if it failed on me.

I am well aware of this. They play a part in hauling loads and maintaining a semi level stance while fully loaded. Icon sells a smaller foam bump stop for our trucks for more articulation when combined with their leaf springs. So like any suspension modification we are changing what Ford intended. People also put the raptor bump stops on as well. Typically they have a lower payload. The trade off was worth it for me and the amount of empty highway miles I do as well as the time I spend off the pavement.

Actually they are designed to stop the suspension from compressing too much. If the suspension compresses too much the shocks will bottom out and become damaged. The reason you can get away with a shorter bump stop is when you have a multi leaf pack. Factory stock the Ranger does not have that unless its the Tremor package. With that said you need to be careful as you may damage the new Bilsteins you ordered.

That is a good point. I'll check the compressed length of both shocks. Hopefully the Bilsteins allow for that extra inch.

something to consider too- the icon stage 3 uses the shorter bumps with oem springs.

Found a set a Deaver leaf spring but they don’t have the raptor bump stops. Any idea on where you can find these to purchase?

So those F150 raptor ones would be shorter than the current ones on the ranger? From what I understand you have to go shorter with the Deaver springs to get the same amount of travel

You do have to get shorter bump stops to run the deavers. This is due to the amount of leafs in the leaf pack amd the fact on how the rear is at factory height. If you go through APG they will include the bump stops

Yes they are shorter.

Mine went in with my ROW leafs.

Was just thinking they might be a better looking option than the cut Ranger ones.

Easy to install on the Ranger. Just have to zip off a locating tab on the Raptor bumps and they go right in.

Yeah was thinking about going with APG and the. I found the same leaf springs for quite a bit cheaper but they don’t sell them with the bump stop. Was thinking I may try to order my own if they were cheap enough to justify not going with the APG ones.

Two weeks after I bought it I was using it to move. Constant weigh and a trailer for a few days forced me to do something. Plus I didn't want to spend money or break bolts!
