I was driving my Ranger tonight, and for the first time since I got it, I didn't have the radio on. That's when I noticed it. It's not loud and was apparently being drowned out by the radio before. It's a metallic turbo sound at lower RPM's/speeds. Kind of a whirr, but it sounds like maybe a compressor vane brushing against the side of the housing (maybe a bad bearing?) As I kick in the boost, it goes away and I just hear the whoosh of air from the turbo. I've been driving turbo vehicles for years from stock to insanely modded, so I'm quite familiar with what they sound like, and this doesn't sound normal. I'm only at 900 miles, so if this IS a problem, it came this way from the factory
. I'm curious if anyone else has noticed this sound? As this is the first one I've driven, maybe it's a unique characteristic of the "twin scroll" design?
