Does anyone else have an issue with the rubber seal freezing to the tailgate, or tips on how to prevent it from happening? A couple times now I have been locked out of the box after some winter weather.

My gf had this problem with her door seals back in Chicago. She would spray a little silicon (not WD 40) on a rag and wet the doors seals down and it would prevent the condensation from freezing on them and sticking.

This.
I'll add with use the normal "wet" silicone lubricant not the dry type, and any brand will do.

Yep. Waiting for it to thaw today. I've used Adam's VRT on all the seals, worked on the doors fine but tailgate is stuck solid. Thinking it may be because the tailgate is horizontal and the water can sit there and freeze instead of run off like a vertical surface.
Heat gun may help if you need access sooner than later. Don't melt anything.
As far as prevention, move in with Dave. Pretty sure he doesn't have this issue.

Edit: here was my issue, all fixed now.

Ain't nothing gonna prevent that besides keeping out of the snow and ice.

That makes sense some sense, maybe that's why these trucks are higher from one side to the other??? To promote drainage lol...it's a long piece of ice once it's formed. The first time it happened I was at work getting razzed by a bunch of Chevy fanbois and tried to load something in the box and the tailgate wouldn't drop. I still ain't lived it down lol

Maybe that could be a new trend like the Carolina squat. ? Lift one side and not the other. At least there would be a purpose.
