Thursday morning, once it got warmer than 20*, I went out to the garage and removed my OEM crash bars and installed my Ready Lift Intrusion Bars. There's now about 1/2" or so gap between the tire and intrusion bars when turned lock to lock. If/when it settles, the tires may touch to new bars and I might have to remove them, like SCT had to do with their original SEMA Ranger... Don't want too remove them, but if I have too, I just have too... :/

I decided that the calipers needed to be paint matched, so I used the G2 system and painted them Gloss Black.

I also raised the coilovers up an inch, resulting in the correct/proper front height for the CF kit. There's now 2.5 inches of threads showing below the coilover lock ring.

They're sat at Al's recommendation of 3.5" gap between the fender lip and top of tire. I forgot to take a pic of the gap measurement before pulling the wheels back off...

Lookin good man!

Your truck puts all the Air Design pieces together well. I think it's the black, they look more subtle with their matte black against the gloss black.
Thanks, but you are aware that my Air Design parts are paint matched Shadow Black, correct?

Here's my lug nut comparison.

OEM Chrome vs aftermarket Black
IMG_20211224_102629139.webp

OEM one in new wheels. These fit in the seat great! Just wish they were Black!
IMG_20211224_102725404.webp

Aftermarket Black ones in wheel seat. I had to hold them in there with a wrench, just to show size comparison.

I think I need some similar to the OEM lugs, just in black? What do yall think?

No, they're Matte, just like the SCT SEMA Ranger, but the rest of my Air Design parts are Shadow Black, just like the SCT one ;)

Those spline drive lugs are meant for the aftermarket wheels.

I'd use them, especially if supplied by Method.

I think you could have pulled off matte on the cab spoiler, hood piece, and fender pieces, but painting the flares is a good call for sure.

Method didn't supply them. They came from the company I found the wheels at, which was Extreme Customs. They were also the ones that included the wrong hub-centric rings

Method was backordered months behind...

Thanks again! But, no, those piece in Matte Black against my truck looked awful... It looked really cheap/ricey like that! If it were a lifted 4x4, I would've left them in Matte though, but this is going to be my daily street truck and I wanted it to look nice. I wanted it an almost close of the SCT build.

Painting everything, not just the Air Design parts, but the tailgate and door handle covers, the mirror skull caps, and the tow hook valance only cost $500, base/clear Shadow Black :)

Gotcha.

The spline drive style is what you want. But I can understand not trusting the supplier. You can see that on the Methods there is a very small surface for the lugnut to actually make contact with. The smaller cone surface of the spline drive, "tuner" style are great for this application, but not recommended for factory wheels.

Did they have any brand or model numbers? I've had good luck with McGard in the past, and I've heard good things about Gorilla. Stage 3 has these...

The ones in that link from Stage 3 is what I ordered and should be here next Wednesday, along with the proper hubcentric rings.

Yep, the black lugs came in this box, never heard of them, LOL!

EDIT: I went to Method's sire and they finally had the preferred Black Spline lugnuts in stock, that they recommend for their wheels, so I ordered them! I'm still waiting on the Black wheel lip bolts from Method, I ordered them in early November....

So, about noon today, it was about 60* outside, so I decided to go mount the Air Design Fender Flares! I kicked on my heater and bumped the temp to over 70* and sweat my ass off, but I got everything warm enough to properly install the flares!
IMG_20211224_130758744.webp

Did this all by myself, but I started on the pass front, then pass rear, drivers front, drivers rear, pass extension, and finally drivers extension. Took 2.5-3 hours start to finish. Pics are not in install order, LOL!

I'm going to add a few Phillips black self tapping screws in the flares and extensions, just because there's not a lot holding the bottom of the flares to the truck/inner fender lip... I'm not going to do anything stupid, just add 1-2 screws, per flare and they'll be hidden/somewhat hidden.

I have to ask the question man, what is it you do for a living? You’re a pretty handy bloke!
Not at all! I'm a Water Operations Pipefitter, for the local utility company, for 17 years next month!

I got into restoring classic cars when I was 17 or 18, almost 30 years ago! Before I got married in 2005, I had owned 40+ vehicles since I was a teenager!

I've also renovated 3 of the 5 houses, myself, that I've owner/lived in, since my late 20's. Our current house is paid off and I have completely renovated the whole thing, myself, since 2016. Well, almost the whole thing, we need a new roof, vinyl windows and gutters, then it'll be finished!

I've always liked to have my hands on something, building something, anything! Just anything to keep me busy and that I'll enjoy afterwards!

The last truck I did a bunch of work to was my 2003 Chevy S-10 Xtreme, in 2005. I drove it for 3 years and my co-workers hated me for the work I did to it. Well, honestly, I think most of my co-workers are jealous, but they'd never admit it to me.

I always tell people, not just co-workers that, "If you don't smoke, drink, dip/chew tobacco, you have a very good paying career and don't have a bunch of kids, that you can have things like this!" We don't indulge in alcohol, smoking or tobacco. We both have good careers/jobs, at least I think we do. And neither of us have any children, well, except for my little Pitbull boy! :)

Sorry to ramble on about all that, LOL!

And I got a kid and an Australian mortgage lol

I joke, my 5 y/o is awesome, helps work on the truck, makes styling/mod decisions and keeps me motivated. Just expensive this time of the year and absolutely garbage at washing cars ???
